Instead of making an RTX, Attack, GT, Attack gt ect ect ect. They should alow there cutomers to cutom build there sled. You would pick your Color, Lenght "121,128,136,144", and then your shock options "KYB, Fox, Ohlin, and gyrt".

Exsample.

1. Black Attack
2. Fox Floats up front
3. Mono Shock With a KYB in the rear with the Big Boy spring

Or

1. Blue Apex
2. gyrt Front shocks
3. Mono shock with Ohins

Or

1. Blue Attack
2. gyrt Front shocks
3. Mono shock with Ohins

Are you willing to pay $15,000 for your sled? This would add to the cost of manufacturing because of scheduling all the special orders. JMO

Your just wrong on the numbers.

I paid 9300.00 otd for my attack. To add floats would be no more then 300.00 and to add the big boy spring should be a wash. You keep forgetting if You add floats you take the cost of the KYB's off. I highly doubt the big boy spring for the KYB costs any More then the light spring but for arguments sake say it's 20.00. If you wanted to drop the KYB entirely from th rear and go to the Ohlin your looking at a 300.00 dollar difference as well.

So lets say I decided I wanted floats and a Ohlin in the rear your looking at adding 600.00 bucks to my 9300.00. You do the math it's no where near 15000.00

CUSTOM BUILT SLEDS

I agree it would be a better way to go, but the additional cost is due more to production line delays than the sum total of the added parts unless the assembly line was set up for it. Polaris did it not too long ago. you were able to bet either an M-10 or standard skid. Opens up a lot of possible options. You got to give it to Yamaha for trying to braoden their customer base with the entry level 80 HP model. Sure it's ugly, but radical new suff always is.

What Joe said.
But if they did I'd order the Phaser with the 150 Fuelie :flag:

Honda does it right now with the VTX motorcycle. If it didn't drive cost up to manufacture that would be great!

I agree 100%. The first thing I would delete off the options list is the rear suspension. I would order it without and put my own aftermarket skid on the sled.

I can tell you this my 136 Mono Shock with the heavy spring out rides the Expert X which I loved in my RX-1.

Are you guys aware that dealers must order their entire allotment of Yamaha sleds by March 25? Yamaha builds soley based on dealer orders in March - and no more...

This year it's gonna be real hard to "guess" whats right to order based on all the new products - and what they hope/think the consumer will buy.

A Custom program? Not possible on their manufacturing schedule.

Really. Was the expert x in your rx1 a 136"?? I am just wondering why yamaha is shying away from it when it comes to the bump sleds. I think the Pro Active with better shocks and heavier springs is better than the mono in the rough stuff.

What should Yamaha Do? they should keep on listening to the public, which in most cases they are starting to do that already. 07 lineup looks good, but a left over 06 model may be in my future, But I will be at a demo ride for sure

I had it in my sled as a 121 and as a 136. the 136 was better and led me to my Attack. I road my wifes 99 500sx for about 3 to 4 hours on Saturday. I let my brother ride my attack. When I got back on my Attack I thought I was riding a Cadillac. It felt just a light and nimble as the little 500 sx as well with a boat load more power.

I've run my sled through some big bumps. If I was the Type that looked for every 3 plus foot Mogul I'd probably want a skid that was built to take those kinds of hits over and over again. The mono will take them but I think your going to have a failure eventually. the main reason I think Yamaha added the proactive Skid to the RTX is they called the RTX a ditch banger and then they saddled it with a plush skid that wasn't meant to be beat on like that.

If your looking to beat your sled get on 07 RTX if your looking for a plush ride that will handle all conditions thrown at you if needed but will eat the stutters like a Cadillac get a Attack with the Mono shock!!!
