Whats an 07 Polaris FST got for power???

No, Actually I read it as two thousand seven hundred and fifty cubic centimeters. Makes alot more sense that it is 2 cylinders with a total of 750cc. Thats why I asked, I couldnt believe it was nearly a 3.0liter motor.... But with Poo ya never know.

It seams like a weird way to list it....
Yeah it's weird that they show it like that, it does look like 2,750. They should have used a hyphen (-) or something like that. A 2.75 liter would be one heavy snowmobile though. ;)!

Correction; the busa is a 1,300, not a 1,400 and Yamaha is not the only company that makes great inline 4's. Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki all make great engines. I have owned many and for my dollar the smoothest most linear power goes to the Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird......

I looked at a 2008 IQ FST but was willing to pay a $1300 premium for a 2007 Attak. The turbo maintenance, whether real or imagined just plain scared me.

The 140hp looked nice, but the attack with 150hp and 136" track should be the ticket.

Too bad none of them make a sled. I truely thought that when yammi put out the RX-1 in 2003 that it opened the doors for honda, kawi, and suzuki to jump into the snowmobile world. I figured that since suzuki and Arctic Cat have such a long standing relationship that they would be dropping a suzuki inline 4 in an Arctic Crap within a couple years.. But.. It never happened... At least not yet

How about that for competition.. An Ac with a GSX-R motor in it...

FST

Have ridden with one for two years. He is stock. Last year I ran a 120 non injected Vector. It was a pretty good race until about 90 and then he could get away. They do have a pretty good top end but it takes a long time to wind them out. This year I have an Apex again. He will be toast. Also it is downright uncomfortable to ride that sled. The turbo kicks out so much heat your legs get HOT if you stay on the gas. The mileage is nothing special and there is no way it weighs 580 lbs. It is a tank. I have helped put out two fires that got touched off by the red-hot turbo. Next time I hope he just lets it burn. He is kind of screwed though because he is from Roseau MN where they make the wretched things. He would just have to buy another one.

I have both apex and fst. the power is close thay have 140hp and the ecu lets the hp up to 160hp for the frist 3 sec of wot the sled has some trubo lag but it goes good handles better then apex i have over 3500mi no problems with anything none on my dragon or my buddies switchback and we ride hard lots of rough trial's. i am not tied to one brand i like both yamahas and polaris. if you go to polarisfiles.com and go under fs-fst and thay just did dyno stuff stock and with up grades. just wanted to put my info in sorry about the spelling not good with that... :4STroke:

I see why you might be a little bias on the Honda. LOL I dont even ride an inline anymore. I bought an M109R Suzuki Cruiser. 1800 cc with torque up the a$%. It is perfect for the aging bones.

Hi, I'm a fellow 4stroker. I currently own a Polaris FST and am not trying to start anything just providing some info. I like Yamaha too and if not for riding Polaris most my life I would definitely choose an Apex as an alternate sled. Especially with the turbo. This info is from the Polarisfiles site courtesy of Dynotech, Yayou, EscursionPSD, ZorniqVW, and many others.

FST Dyno Results, 12/21/2009

"I will not go into all the details here.... because I have to analyze all the results that were compiled during nearly 25 dyno runs. Further, all the results will be posted on the Dynotech website in about 7-10 days. However, highlights are:

Stock FST with either the 2007 or 2008 ECU flash: 148bhp +- 2bhp
Stock FST with Racecraft intercooler & ELA muffler: 156bhp +- 2bhp
FST with Stage 2 ECU reflash: 174bhp +- 2bhp
FST with Stage 2 reflash & racecraft intercooler: 179bhp +- 2 bhp
FST with stage 2 reflash & racecraft intercooler & ELA exhaust: 183bhp +- 1bhp
FST with stage 3 reflash & Racecraft intercooler & ELA exhaust: 191bhp +- 1bhp

Stage 4 reflash gave minus 4bhp as it appears the small kkk turbocharger was operating outside its efficiency range.

These are outsanding results. Everything was conducted on 91 octane pump gas and not a single combustion knock event was recorded during the whole day. All was safe and the engine was rock solid."

"I now can now guesstimate the power output of an FST with a GT25R. 3 years of comparing oem kkk's against the GT25R's.... and my buttdyno suggests a conservative 220bhp in similar trim. Further, I do know the stage 4 flash makes more power than the stage 3 on a GT25R.... kind of cool on pump gas (everyone should realize we were running NGK BKR9EIX's"

"I must report, as I have observed and suspected for a long time, there is no such thing as a 4 second 20bhp boost spike known as the temporary overboost. At best, the overboost provides 5-8bhp additional for around 2,5 seconds and then fades away going back to the power output level of the 2007 ECU calibration. That being said, the overboost is a nice feature offered by Polaris as it gives more zip in the twisties and when initially cracking the throttle open."

Thanks for the info Larry. Those are impressive numbers. I didn't realize until tonight that the motor in the FST is the same 700 as the Sportsman 700. I did have a buddy that had the sportsman 700 and he had tons and tons of issues with the motor, it was in the shop alot so I hope the fst dosn't have any of those same issues.

I went for a ride last night with my buddy who just bought the FST, It is a very nice looking sled, the motor sounds like a single cylinder lawn mower but I dont think anyone buys a sled for its sound. I sure do love the sound of that 4holer yammi when it winds up to 10grand though.....

You should have seen the look on his face when we stopped after just a 10 mile 30-50mph ride and that turbo was glowing red hot, everyone was gathering around to warm their hands and defrost their shields on the hood vents. I had to reassure him it was ok so he wouldnt throw snow on it to "put out the fire" It glowed for about 10 minutes and he kept asking "are you sure its ok??? It cant be right for it to glow that hot I wasn't going that fast".... "Whats gunna happen when Im out on the lake with it" I assured him that turbos run hot. I told him to call the dealer in the morning to confirm that its ok for it to glow red hot for that long but I was pretty sure it was ok. He was as nervous as could be...

He also is coming off an xc 800 so its taking him some time to get used to the weight. He said it feels alot heavier when riding than my apex did. I didn't ride the FST but I know the apex, for a heavy sled can get light with just a little flip of the throttle.

Other than the red hot turbo, he likes the sled so far. I didn't line up with him or anything but Im not too worried... If I get beat this year I wont next year when I have the yamacharger installed..... YEEE HAWWWW!!!!

Webber makes the 750 for Polaris. There are rumors of maybe an 850 from either Polaris or Webber in the future but who knows. Polaris doesn't seem too concerned with 4strokes right now for some reason. Basically Yamaha is the only one out there with a decent 4stroke. I don't really care for Skidoo or Artic Cat anyway.

You probably need to talk to some guys who switched from Yam 4 strokes to the Doo 4 stroke. They'd tell you a little different story.

Also, SuperTrax named the Doo "Best 4 stroke". Not only is Yam not the only one making a decent 4 stroke (all 4 make decent 4 strokes), they don't even make the best 4 stroke anymore.

We'll see when some of those doo and poo 4 strokes have 20,000 miles on them. Then lets see who makes the best 4 stroke. The yamaha 4 stroke is a tried and true bike motor that has been adapted to sleds. Its one hell of a motor. I wanna see some miles on these new doos and poos before I beleive they are as good as a yamaha motor.... Id definately try one, like I always say, Im not brand loyal, I just like the yamahas best. I was almost sold on a doo this year but I reverted to the tried and true yamaha.

BTW. the mags never know what their talking about IMO. In late 2004 supertrax had a huge write up on their test of the new Polaris Fusion 900. they said it was going to change snowmobiling. It was a super fast corner to corner sled that "just worked" and we all know how wrong they were about that.

my buddy has an fst,not sure what year but it has all factory updates,we call him fingers cause he tweaks everything he owns so not sure what it has done to it,just a few aftermarket bolt ons i think .i will tell you this ,he pulls me to 80 everytime and usually by 3-5 lengths, doesnt matter when we hit it either, that first 3 or 4 sec extra boost really makes the thing talk,no comparison on top but the 0-80 stuff it works

I'm back lol. Mine was a '06 144" Switch FST and I loved it. BUT, it was the first year and they had thier problems and I got sick of working on the damn thing (so did my buddy). The alternator which sits under the turbo had a pulley that was too small from the factory which made it over rev up about 7500. Now you add the heat from the turbo and its cooked. I had it rebuilt once and before i could swap out the pulley for a bigger one at the end of the season it started to not charge again. If it wasn't for that I would have kept it because the FST guys are doing some nice things to improve the performance and such. But I accuired my new toy and traded the old girl away so on those warm days when their turbo cherrys are bogging them down I'll cruise on by with a smile on my face ;)! . Now I just have to hurry up and sell the aftermarket intercooler so I can by some studs.

Friend of mine had an 09 switchback 136 all stock. I thought its powerband was crappy. It would run with my nytro no problem though. It just wasnt as much fun to ride
