I'm helping a buddy replace his handlebars on a 2004 Warrior... I've got the handlebars off the sled, new ones put back on, but can't get the handwarmers off the old bar.

I drilled out the rivets, tried to gently pry the glue and rubber loose. Right now, I have them soaking in hot soapy water.. I don't want to get too rough with them and tear up the heating elements in them..

what works best for you? Please help. Thanks, joel

Slice right down the side (lengthwise) with a razor knife and peel them back.
Be VERY careful to not cut too deep if you are not replacing the warmers, you will damage the heating elements if you cut too deep.
They are held on with Yamabond 7, works great to put them back on with, then start the sled and set the warmers to high, will greatly speed up the drying process.

If you are hoping to use the warmers and the grips on the new bars, good luck...
Maybe soak in gasoline or kerosene?

crap.. I was hoping to reuse grips and warmers...

Try heating them up real good with a heat gun or blow dryer, then try to pull them off. Worth a shot before you have to cut them.

not a chance in *ell!!! put new grips and heaters on my pex this year and tried everything! the glue they use is unreal. had to use a chisel and a file to clean off the bars to reinstall new stuff. good luck!!

I was able to get my grips off in reusable shape by heating them up and using air from the compressor to break the glue free. Stick the air nozel underneath the grip and start twisting them. It's a long process but it can be done.
