Everything being equal (clutching, weight of rider etc), the laws of physics will give the Apex a slightly faster topend. The Attak weighs about 20 lbs more with most of that weight being in the longer track. Which means you are pushing around 15lbs more rotating weight with the same HP motor. What may skew actual results is that the Attak might actually have a little stronger running motor than the Apex in a particular radar run. You would have to dyno both sleds to make sure they are exactly equal in HP.

as to the comments about the handling "pushing" I admit, as a fourstroke novice for me time will tell...but I've set up many short 2 strokes and know that setting up a sled you can make it do or cure many if not all of the dislikes .. i e understeer or oversteer..
obviously as a slightly longer length it gives up a slight amount of turning radius and carving ...but it seems to me that very same length provides an immense traction advantage and bridges the bumps so well the choice is clear..

gt's
I seen a brand new attack gt run 115 on radar about 1 month ago I'm shure it will run faster with some miles on and the 06 apex gt ran right after that @114mph but the 06 apex gt are geared one tooth higher.

Postman, I would tend to agree with you on the physics. I have to tell you though. One year I put my V-Max 800 pro-stock on a weight loss program, as I was 30 lbs overweight for the class. So I spent a ton of money on titanium and a great deal of time to remove that weight. I took ---8--- pounds of rotating weight off the track in titanium cleats and titanium studs. The other ---22--- pounds came off the chassis. You would think it should have helped it tremendously. Well it didn't go a hundredth quicker!!! It ran the exact same time it always did. I tried everything to get it to respond to the lighter weight. It didn't 60 better, it didn't split better, and it did not MPH any better. When you reach a certain point in the HP spectrum, it takes a great deal less weight, or a whole lot more power to see the results. I also just checked the weights of the 121 vs. 136 yamaha ripsaws. and there is only a 5 lb. difference. 38 lbs. vs. 43 lbs. Just a little food for thought. Mike Knapp#17

isn't the apex 121" have a higher gearing (24 top) and a different secondary spring (pink) at a 6-1 twist and the attak 136" has a lowering gearing (23 top) and a white secondary spring at a 3-3 twist, wouldn't that make a big difference stock for stock?
gearing
sharkattack no the 07 attack gt and the apex gt has 23-38
The 06 attack had 23-38 gearing and the 06 apex gt had 24-38 gearing

I think Snowbeast has it right. If people can agree that a lowsy set of windage plates can pick up 1-2 mph than I think that 15 extra inches of track spinning at 120mph will slow you down. I think it makes sense that an Attack will be a little faster down low with it's gearing and track. Take an Attack and an Apex with a 23 tooth top gear (which most drag racers will run) run them for 1/2 mile especially on ice and the apex will win everytime. It all depends on what you use the sled for when you are not racing if you ask me.

i think a lot of it is in the gearing on the 06's. it also looks like the attaks sit lower? or maybe im just crazy!
