What's the verdict on the short snow flap

I had the same problem last year, I used the short and still shredded it. I put on a W shaped wire bracket and solved my problem. It keeps the snow flap out in the stock postion, and wont allow it to be ran over or sucked it. The part cost like $5. I got it here
