and their website? It's caused me lots of problems with the local BRP contingent. Some wanted to go to Curtis, MI this weekend to see/ride the 06's. I got on Yammie's website 2 weeks ago and told them the website showed no appearance in MI during March for the 06's. That the only things schediuled for CUrtis were the 05's according to the website.

Then, of course, Yamaha has at least a few 06's there. Make's Buddah look like a frakin' jerk :? ............of course thaat's not a hard task anyway.
Then, to add insult to injury, I find out yesterday that Yamaha is going to have at least 2, maybe more, 06's here in Munising next weekend for the cross country race...........AND be offering rides on them.......WTF?????

They sorta end up sending very mixed signals, eh? :(

Next weekend a snowcross? Cool maybe a good destination! :D :flag: might be hard finding a room near there?

Buddah,
I think it's a conspiracy against you because you completely ignored the Yamaha Nationals they had in Munising.

Carston,
Don't go away mad................... :moon: :D

Rage,
It's not a snowcross but rather a cross-country race. I've seen a map of the planned course and it's around 75 mi. per lap, I think.

No it's really a cross-country race. It's called the Munising 300 but it looks to me like the layout of the course is about 75 mi. The part I'm not sure of is if they're only doing 1 lap or more. :?

They're scheduled to start downtown at the tour boat launch, race over to Grand Island, back to Christmas, out west to the AuTrain area, around FOrest Lake, then somehow back over almost to Shingleton on some forest roads, etc. (I can't tell exactly which ones because I didn't have my glasses on), then back into town ending back where they started.

The other part I'm a little confused about is the flyer said that the in-town portions of it would be "speed controlled".............how do you do THAT in a race?

I'll try to find out more details in the next couple of days. ;)!

Thanks Jim.
I'd like to be there, but can't get back till Monday. I watched the car race through the woods last year. It was neat.

Carston,

Here's the details I found by doing a Google search. Ed described the course and the 2nd post is by a guy from Neguanee who is a friend of Kevin's. Poster's name is Dave somethingorother......he posts on ultimatesnowmobiler.com......................

the race will start from the city dock,3 miles of wide open ice running to grand island onto the island for 6 miles back onto the ice for 3 more miles into christmas ,down reindeer run towards autrain. mixed terrian, cross m28, 21 miles of forest service roads, not groomed but some high speeds should not be a problem,at aproximately 35 miles there will be a secondary gas stop every one will have to stop at m94, locally known as 8 mile corner. its approximately 8 miles from munising by car, very easy to drive to.next 7 miles of trail will be 100 foot wide forest roads mostly straight wide open will be common. 3.2 miles of grommed trail ,will be speed controlled at 30 mph dont worry itll be a good rest for a few minutes,1.4 miles very tight terrian, back onto 100 foot wide forest road for 8 miles to the side of m28 for 4 miles of wide open ditch runnning back to wetmore.this will be your last chance for top speeds to make up time. 1 mile south on h-13 side of road speed controlled.then last 6 miles back to munising, tight trail, city streets back to city dock, streets will be snow covered and speed limits.have fun.

Ed Nedeau

call 1-906-387-5300 and talk to kevin kolbus as he is laying out the course but from what I understand the race starts in munising goes out and around grand island and then uses mainly old forestry roads that are unplowed and should get rough. 75 mile loops with pro classes running two laps friday and two laps saturday.

Best of my knowledge it was an 05 demo ride not 06's. But who knows you couldn't even make the nationals in your own backyard!!!

Oh! And yet another chipmunk chimes in.................. LaLaLa

Blue, they were '06's. Ultimatewarrior called me to rub it in.

I also know a REV rider that will be switching to an Attak for '06.

IMO: This last minute demo ride thing is a great idea, and a great strategy for Yamaha. KUDOS Yamaha ;)!

4Fighter,

Please explain why you think it's good? I just curious.

I know it caused me some problems with the "locals". We might have even gotten some converts (or re-converts) from doo if they'd gotten the right info out earlier.
