I found out all but two of my suspension wheel bearings were shot after two riding seasons (approx. 6000 miles). Is this normal wear and tear? It seems odd that there'd be that many gone so soon. Insight anyone?

I've never ridden a sled 6000 miles, but I have replaced bearings after a few seasons.

6,000 miles is quite a bit for a little wheel that spins at pretty high RPM when you are running hard. Doesn't seem terribly unusual to me.
Think of it this way, those beaing have completed something on the order of 23,641,791 Rotations in those 6,000 miles...

I have 8500 miles on my 03 and just replace my 1st bearing. I did however, grease them all at approx. 5000 miles and again now prior to this snow season.

Thanks for the info. I'll simply replace them and move on. It's good to know that it's not that unusual. 8)

I figured out, for me anyhow, is when I wash my sled after every ride with a pressure washer, I am actually forcing water into the bearings. I now take and force grease into the bearings after every ride before washing. Now the bearings have lasted over 4000 miles without replacing.
Forcing grease into th bearings?
How are you forcing grease into the bearings prior to the wash? Just curious.

Try using a needle greaser under the seal and give them a pump.
YOu can also buy the bearings on ebay VERY VERY cheap.. i believe they were 8 for $10 last time i checked... Yamaha gets like $10 EACH from the dealer..

I use a needle adaptor for my grease gun for the bearings that are hard to get to, on the EZ 1s I remove the seals with a pick type tool and pack grease in by hand.

+ $15 shipping = $23 for 10, thats $2.30 each. And thats for 6004. They're worth $1.50 from any regular bearing supplier.
