Yamaha Opens House In Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
Building features 174,000 square feet and room for expansion

A huge 174,000 square foot facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin is the new home of Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA's Midwest Headquarters.

Ceremonies to mark the opening of the new facility included speeches from Yamaha Motor Company 's president Mr. Tim Hasegawa, who traveled from Japan for the occasion, and Yamaha USA's president Mr. Steve Kato, who came from Yamaha USA's California-based headquarters.

While the facility was officially "opened" on September 23, the Wisconsin headquarters staff actually began operating out of the facility in early July. The state-of-the-art distribution facility services all Yamaha products lines: ATVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, power equipment, race kart engines, and all parts, accessories and apparel.

Of the building's 174,000 square feet of space, more than 20,000 square feet are dedicated to office space and training facilities for sales, service and dealer training.

The new facility combines the efforts of the former Cudahy, Wisconsin, and Mounds View, Minnesota personnel in a singular Midwest Headquarters.
Yamaha president Hasegawa noted that 40 percent of Yamaha's worldwide business is in North America and that the United States makes up a vast majority of Yamaha's worldwide sales.

Yamaha USA president Kato stated that Yamaha has expanded from being just a motorcycle company 25 years ago to being a much more diversified motor products company in the United States. He said that Yamaha employs more than 2,500 people in the US and that Yamaha's commitment to US sales growth is just one reason for the centralized Midwest Headquarters facility. He added that the location of the Yamaha facility in Wisconsin emphasizes Yamaha's commitment to the Midwestern US marketplace.

Because Yamaha also acquired additional land and because of the facility's design concept, the Midwest Headquarters facility can be expanded as expected growth continues.

Thanks for the info, but I am trying to decipher it a bit. I know the sleds are built in Japan, so is the pleasant prairie location, just for handling dealer stock, mechanic training, warranty claims and things of that nature. Is there any kind of designing, engineering, or testing that goes on here? What does "the state-of-the-art distribution facility services all Yamaha products lines: ATVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, power equipment, race kart engines, and all parts, accessories and apparel" mean? Again thanks for the info.

I thought the r&d and testing is in minouqua, wi. They have a place there with land

I thought the R&D in Wi. was for warrenty problems in the US. All they did was fiquire how it broke and why. Saves time rather then sending warrenty issue to Japen to anaylize.

Pleasant Praire is in southern wisconsin around Kenosha.

Im confusing myself for crying out loud. You are right. The Minocqua location does R&D and testing and am pretty sure thats where the demo semis are based out of. I know they have lots of land up there where they do testing. Sorry for the wrong info. For some reason I thought these 2 were connected. Silly me :drink:

Demo semi's are most likely coordinated out of the Pleasant Prairie facility. The Pleasant Prairie facility is where most of the marketing, product development, and service for the snowmobile division is based out of. That facility also is 1 of 3 parts warehouses Yamaha has in the US and handles alot of the snowmobile related items (parts/accessories). The location of that warehouse is a huge asset to Port Yamaha as it allows us to get parts in a day from Yamaha and since we order parts daily it allows us to have a good turnaround time on parts orders. Yamaha also has a facility in Minoqua, Wi that does some engineering and r&d for the snowmobile division but as far as the actual production and assembly of the sleds that is all performed over in Japan and then the units are shipped to the US.

Sure would be sweet if the PP location was expanded to become there sled manuf. facility.
We could use those types of jobs.
