Could be a indicator of a large Dealer in the area. But its good to hear there are more Yamahas out there.

You know what would be fun?: get all of us Yamaha riders together and trek Tug Hill in a great big long Yami convoy. Those Doo guys would crap their pants for sure. That would get EVERYONE talking on the Hill. My property is right on the trails live right next to Oneida Lake across from the state boat launch. If it was earlier in the year I'd cook us all a great big breakfast before we ventured out onto the big Tug Hill. Plenty of parking at the boat launch. Hey everyone's invited!!!...probably next year by the look of things outside my window. By the way: where's the snow????!!!! I'm not ready to give up just yet!

Great Idea, all Yamaha ride on the hill, killer, count me in, All those Doo heads would deffinitly crap their pants, I live on the south shore of the lake so no problem hooking up with you. I will deffinitly be riding over the next few weekends, hit me back if you want to ride. Just stinks we have to keep trailering further north, more time in the car less time on the sled.

If you guys were to look on the NY, TY rides thread, you would see that there has been all Yammi rides since the new four stroke came out in 2003. I think the first year we had around 20 yammies show up! Oh yea, and one pin head too! There has been at least one ride per year. There were a couple smokers to show also. They rode in the back, as no one wanted to smell the oil all day!Great bunch of guys who all ride the same iron. Great leader each year too! We all have learned the trails much better, and have seen some assume sights! Sometimes the sights were unwanted, but they were memories just the same! Maybe we will see you at the next ride?????

- 2007 Attak - LOVE my sled!!!
Have ridden the Hill, Randolph, & Little Valley area alot for many years.
It has been Doo territory for a loooong time!
(Poo has a pretty good showing also.)
Even my ZR Cat was almost an oddity for a while.
(Until they found out I could pass them like nothing in deep snow, lol)
Riding in Michigan, is a much more balanced picture of the manufacturers.
NY was that way in '93 when I first went there, and hasn't seemed to change much since.
Says something about brand loyalty I believe.

MADDOG24 said:I guess every area is different. We rode 500 miles last week In the UP (Twin Lakes-Mass City-Houghton) and we saw more Yamaha's than anything else.
Same here......was in the whole western UP area during the week of Feb. 22nd and I saw as many new Yammies as I saw Doo's. Saw several new Cat's and very few new Polaris sleds......just the older Poo models.

Weekend of 2/21 from Mass City to Copper Harbor, we saw a ton of Doo's, and Yamaha's were a close 2nd. Very few Pols and AC's. The best part is, with all the REV's on the trail, I saw more shredded belts and doo's with body panels opened up than I've ever seen. Not bashing, just an honest observation. Must've seen a dozen shredded belts laying on the trail....lol!

Man I can't believe I didn't check out the TY rides threads. Some left from Camden, NY which is right in my back yard. Would've loved to have gone with ya'll on Saturday. I'll pay more attention here. Can't believe I missed that one. RIGIDONE we'll definitely have to hook up and ride sometime soon. Need to get my first oil change out of the way and put some Yamalube Synthetic in there asap. It really stinks that the snow is almost gone. Just received my new Mountain Mod seat with Curve ski's, Bergstrom triples, and those Venture style mirrors. Anyone know how hard it is changing a seat on the DBII? I really need to get some studs, those trails are thick with ice.

It definitely depends on the area. The state of Maine is a great example. You go to The County (Aroostook County, runs along NB up through estcourt station.) its know for wide flat and fast rail beds and fields. Almost nothing but Yammies. Then its about an equal mix of F series doos and poos. However you go to the western half of the state. The Forks through Jackman, and Rangely and its almost all doos. Then some where in the middle is a mix of every thing new and old from all four.

Well Yamaha is 3rd in sales behind Doo and Polaris...

I heard that Yamaha was #2 in sales also, but it doesn't always reflect that when riding The Hill. I rode on Tuesday, and the prior Tuesday as I generally won't go near The Hill on the weekend. Too much traffic, and trails get whooped quickly.
The one pattern I noticed last Tuesday was a lot of later model sleds run the trails. Haven't seen too many brand new machines running this year. That being said, I rode with my cousin who's riding a brand new 2009 Ski Doo XP Renegade, and he broke down TWICE!! Two weeks ago he was towed into the Flatrock by another Ski Doo, as he couldn't possibly let a Yammi pull him to safety. The second time, he was more prepared with spare parts.
Those Ski Doo's may be #1 in sales, but they aren't for me. I'll stick with reliability especially when riding an area with limited or no cell phone coverage. My sled has been a champ....nothing but oil changes, and skags after the initial break in period. It's also nice not having to pony up near $4 bucks a gallon for fuel so you can get back off The Hill on the way back down!

LOL!! Saw the same thing. You hate to see someone have trouble, but I kind of snickered under my helmet when I saw this too. It's amazing how many sleds Pat's in Greenland sells everytime I am up there. Two guys bought sleds in my group while we were there. They were completely out of new Yammies and were trucking them down from their other store in Hancock. We bought most of our gas there too so I was in there quite a bit. It seemed that's all they were doing is getting another sled ready to shove out the door. There was a new F1000 traded in. Some new Doo's, Fusions......and get this... A guy bought a new IQ 800 down the road. It blew with 400 miles on it!! They replaced the motor under warranty and the guy immediately traded it in at Pat's Hancock store for a 4 stroke Yamaha. It seems the brand X riders come in, test ride one and they are hooked. I wonder how many guys go home and get reamed out by their wives for buying another new sled while up there??

When we rode I saw 4 SkiDoo's broken down and 2 Polaris and more sleds that I couldn't make out because there were riders standing all around them. $4 bucks a gallon is no lie on the trails! My buddy cursed me out because he was sweating to find gas and filled up with 9 gallons in his VMax to my 4. We filled up together earlier. That was about a $20 savings for me at one fill-up! Plus he had to add oil too. I treated for lunch so it worked out. I was surprised by the amount of Artic Cat faithful on the Hill with the newer sleds. WAY-way too much yellow though~ just everywhere. Lots of older Polaris but saw some newer Dragon's and IQ's around here and there. It was obvious that Yami's were very few and far between and I couldn't explain why. I mean there are Yamaha dealers in the area and sled sales have risen as a whole in North America/Globally. I think it is interesting to read about the geographic differences here in brand loyalty.
