I went with both. You will have to make some clutching changes with the 144. If it were me and the funds were limited I would go for the gearing and make some cheaper changes to the stock clutching. Turk may be able to give you some ideas on the clutching. Alan is usally pretty busy. Email may be faster. Stock chain works with the 23/40 gears.
