Any snowmobile friendly places to stay with wife in Gaylord, MI. Want to make Gaylord, MI a place on our winter calendar. We have been going to the UP for many years, but have usually by-passed Gaylord due to low or no snow conditions. Can anyone please advise?

So far I am considering, Beaver Creek or TreeTops, but would be willing to listen to ideas on other areas. Would like to have jacuzzi or indoor pool and creature comforts. Atlanta, TC, Petoskey, etc. Just good snowmobiling and stuff to do after the riding is done.

Gaylord area

You named the top places to stay as far as creature comforts. Any of the chain hotels are excellent however. Almost every hotel caters to sledders and they are all close to the trail as the trail now follows the railroad grade right through town. Best Western is good. I've even had good experiences with the small mom and pop motels. I love Gaylord. I usually experience good trails when I ride there. Just pay attention to the locals and they will tell you where the snow is.

Stay at the Red roof right next to Big Buck!!! Nice rooms, Indoor Pool. Inroom jacuzzi's if your interested and a nice resturaunt right next door!!!

IF you want to avoid the tore -up trails in/out of town stay at the Super 8 on the west side of I-75. You can go out the back way & after a short road ride (make sure there's good snow) your on the trail.personally, Gaylord is WAY to crowded on the weekends.I guess it's a good place to take the ladies or family for day ride, then enjoy all the night life ;)!

Use to sled the Gaylord area in the late 60's! The whole area from Elmira to Gaylord was open to me.. maybe saw a couple of sleds each day. Stopped riding in 1970 when my head just about got cut off by the unexposed top barbed wire in a farmers field. Then moved to So.Cali. :( Fast forward 34 years I now live in Montana and this will be the first winter here.. bought the 04 rx1 mountain and can't wait to try out the Biterroot Mountains and the powder they offer. Have fun in Gaylord, some of the best times of my life where spent there each winter. Hope to make it back someday. ;)!
