As the topic says my Wife and I are in the process of planning our first trip to Canada to go snowmobiling (obviously). We are thinking the first week in March to close out our season. We would like something nice in the New liskeard area. If anyone is from the area or has visited and has any info. to offer please do. price range from 125-150 a night, less is always nice but would rather pay a little more and be nice with maybe some creature comforts like high speed internet maybe a spa or something. Anyway post up what ya got thanks guys!

Liskeard is a great area....the "tri town" area is a great HUB for trails....also its awesome as you are right on temiscaming, which is a huge lake!....i rode up there a few times over the years...its cool cause you ride up the river off the lake, and there are trails going up off the river to restaurants, and motels ect....many motels the trails go right to door....great area.

My cottage is in huntsville which you will go right thru on your way north.....march is awesome cause usually its not so cold and lots of snow and groomed trails ....you can ride our to kirkland, and up to timmins...the riding up there is flat, long and fast!....you better bring the ductape cause it fast!

if you stop over near huntsville let me know...we are usually radaring on my lake in march when snow melts off ice...

Try the QualityInn on Hwy 11 or the Waterfront Inn on the lake , the latter is a little nicer , both are on the trails , the trails are long groomed and fast you will not be dissapointed , Ckeck out Pat The Rats Pics or some of mine they are from the area

RockerDan , Im from Bracebridge Muskoka , Do you run Penn and Fairy Lakes ?

Bad thing I've seen in Liskeard in March is no snow. Especially around March break. When we would get to Liskeard when their was no snow we would drive another 2 hours too Cochrane. At the same time Timmins was also getting low on snow (rode from Cochrane to Timmins one day and then back). I'd say go farther if you want and head to Cochrane.

Beware , this winter there is a proposed tree cutting bylaw that the landowners are not happpy with . in order to get the Govs attention they may be closing of all access to there properties to the sledders :o| :o|
This will be in all of the Muskokas , If you look up our local rags on the net you can read up on it Ill let you know if it comes to be , if it doesnt we should get out for a run , , I also get up to the New Liskeard and Gowganda area when I can escape the work thing

i'm 15 min north of new liskeard so anything you want to know,i can prob answer, the waterfront inn is probably the nicest motel, its got a ''rooster'' restaurant attached to it,a pool and hot tub,the view of the lake is awesome, parking is usually good,i see alot of truck and trailers all season long, they are currently building a new ''holiday inn express'' a little further north by the hwy 11 but it wont be ready this year.its true that you can expect mild weather sometimes in march, you have to ride the wabi river to get out of town,it will be rough at that time of year but once you get on the trails, all is good,if you decide to head this way,pm me a cpl days ahead and i can give you a trail and snow report, here's a few pics of some sight seeing on the lake

Waterfront Inn, central location. Rooster's Bar and Grill on site, access to pool, King George bar around the corner and liquor store across the street. Great sledding too! Sledder's special last year was $99 for double room, during the week.
