1200 DOO Renegade, I am not brand loyal and have been, for the most part, happy w/ my Apex. I may keep mine one more year.

UPDATE FROM DEALER:
- looks like the computer had a fault code that there is a faulty crank sensor...part is on order..should be in a couple of days.
Not sure that this will solve the issue...I will update once I ride again...hopefully this weekend

This started when my sled hit about 1000 miles. Warm day, no other problems, all functions still working. Dealer hooked it up to computer which showed no error codes. It looks to me like the LCD is failing. But what is strange is that it works fine first thing in the morning for about 10 minutes then the black spot grows from the center out.
When I shut is off for even 2 minutes, the black goes away and the display is fine. The longer I leave it off, the longer it takes to fade to black when I re-start (but never longer than about 10 minutes).
Any ideas? The sled goes back in tomorrow...

I am having exact same problem, dealer ordered new gauge

Two trips now shot by this sled. First Reverse gear problem. ( Which is fixed now by the new spring).
Now the motor started ticking like a lifter out of adjustment. Tried to get back to the trailer and the motor shut down. It will try to fire, but will not run. Definately a mechanical motor problem. Does not sound good when it fires.
The biggest problem is now that I bought this sled for longevity, I have no faith that I can take it on a trip. It might leave me stranded in the middle of the UP.
Anybod have this problem?
Opinions?
Yep this is a common problem with this sled. All my trips this year have been ruined because of this engine and reverse mechanism. I have no faith in mine either and I'm sticking to riding in circles around my house so I won't have far to walk.
So take your fantasy of riding the lemon back home with you and beat it!
I find it funny you quote a few small problems on a brand new sled with its first season 1/2 way over. The few problems it is having are not wide spread and are very few at this time. I know we can head over to the fx forums but were not pointing fingers in this thread were discussing the 10 model you would buy. Why do you feel it so necessary to defend the yamaha and put everything else down? We could peek at the exhaust doughnuts threads in the apex forum, or the handle bar warmers, of the idler wheels, or the subrames, or the wet foot, or the poor handling, I beleive you get my point all that was asked originally was what 2010 model would YOU buy.

Look at it from our point of view - usually we (mountain riders) are the ones that get the trail sleds with a few mods to make it look like a mountain sled and no real updates. The last few years you guys have gotten all the tech (electric shocks, RTX packages, etc.)
To answer the original post - I would go with the 162 Nytro SE, but I won't because it is a step down in power from my Apex. For 2011 I hope to see that same sled with at least 160hp, a 10 gallon fuel tank, and some storage or a rear rack standard.

Whats the matter with you guys?? Did you read the topic title?? It didn't say anything about a Ski-doo. It clearly states "Which 2010 YAMAHA would you pick?"
I'm already sick of ppl being in tears over the 2010 lineup. Why must you insist on poluting evryones topics?
NytroERrider, Mighty, I'm not just picking on you two, but c'mon guys. Yamaha said the 2009 Nytro XTX was a new model, so why not throw a longer track under the MTX and call it new for 2010? or update the venture and call it a new release?
If anything Yamaha is smart to make the small changes to the same platform to make it more appealing to a broader spectrom of consumer. Look at you beloveid Ski-doo, All you can get is a REV chassis. At least with Yamaha you can chose from 2-3 diffrent configurations.
Sorry Yamaslob for hyjacking your thread.
There is absolutly nothing wrong with me? Is there? This is my personal pick and why would you get pissed at what sled i want? Are you jelous of what skidoo might come out with? Im not in tears of the new 2010 lineup thats why there are other manufactures that come out with something better, I jump ship alot but that does not have to do with anything. This is just a cycle, Yamaha will come out with something outstanding in a few years but you cannot keep up with technology. I like em all but the doo is just my personal favorite. Yamaha got me hooked of 4 strokes and i dont think i will ever go back to a 2 stroke, and btw i misread where it said Yamaha in the title, not to piss everyone off.

I though the original post was what 2010 Yamaha would you buy,you are right even though the year is only half over and the few "major" problems that they are having is maybe not that big of an issue for some.As far as wet foot, hand warmers, etc these problems will not prevent you from getting back home,on the other hand broken drive shafts, blown belts, and the above comments comes straight from the DT forum.

Play nice children...you are starting to get off topic.
That said I like the improvements to the Vector LTX GT (though I wish it was still called Rage) and that would be my sled of choice if I were to get a 2010

Groomerdriver said:FI Vector - if it could somehow shed 50 lbs it quite possibly could be the best trail sled ever.
I agree.
After I rode the 08 nytro, I wished they threw that motor in the vector.
The drag race video from Yamaha pretty much shows me enough proof how good it is.
However it still is heavier than it should be.
So, for me, either a nytro xtx, or a vector GT LTX would be at the top of my list.
The other issue is that oil changes are not easy on the DB2 sleds, especially compared to the fx nytro.

x3. Although I really like the white Bng that yami bought to the table. I like the all black sleds too, reminds me of the AC nightfire editions.
