Ok gents, there's the question. My Simmons are not cutting it (push). I'm gonna try C&A's. I want skis that rail like they are connected to a slot car.

My cunundrum: I also want them to float great, like the Simmons. So which ones, XTX's?

Oh, and what is the best carbide and set up for C&A's?

Do you also have to shim C&A's in the rear a 1/4" (like just about every other ski)?

Thx!

My vote would be for the C&A Razors. Been running them for 4 years now and very happy with them. However, I cannot comment about their floatation, as most of the riding I do in NY is on trail. Before the Razors I was running the C&A ADX ski, and definitely like the Razors better for tight turning and sticking to the trails.

I'd go with the Studbody 7.5" Shaper bars, depending how many studs you're running. I just put on the Bergstrom Triple points and to me difference is negligible on performance on the trails and not worth paying about double the price of the Shaper bars. But I CAN turn like nobodies business with in the gas station parking lots and on roads with the Bergstrom triples, while everybody else is sliding out. The $ factor will come into play as I thihnk the Bergtroms will definitely outlast the Shaper bars in longevity.
Just my $.02

I heard the Razors don't Float that well tho.

Which C&A's will corner like Razors and Float awesome? I heard XTX's. I'm not worried about turning hard.

The razors float way better then stock and are a good all around ski.But if you do serious offtrail and you want more get the XTX.I run the XT and they make the sled go where ever i point. But at slow speeds in trail conditions you will get a workout which i love :) .Carbide does nothing unless you run on hardpack or ice.The skis you are looking at will carve for you.So 6" carbide is all you really need. But thats up to you.Whatever you decide let me know and i can throw together a package.

Awesome Rich! I see the XT and XTX's are both 7 1/4" wide. Is the only difference the XT's have a 1 1/2" tall keel and the XTX's have a 1" tall keel? Any other differences? If just the keel height, would the XTX's then probably just not sit up quite so high?

Why's you go for the XT's over XTX's? Any advantages?

Yep same ski except bottom keel depth.Yes in theory they would sit 1/2" lower but all depends on what snow your in.

I have heard good things about those xt skis, they are wide, and i heard they float really good and still bite very good on hard pack, and i think they are priced ok.

Sorry i missed your last part.Well when i bought mine they didnt have the XTX model so it was a easy choice lol.I would still buy same model now because i do mostly off trail and if i do trail ride i dont want any second thoughts if my sled is going to turn in any snow condition. When your at speed they steer easy enough even on a heavy 4 stroke.I 1st had them on my 06 attack, with a 1.5" ripsaw. If i do trail ride i'm flying through the woods or someplace with corners lol.The XTX would be a good compromise for the more aggressive rider.

Rich, you think that the C and A's are the best choice for push elimination like super sled asked? None of the dual keel skis you carry would cut down on push and rail as well?

That's what my research has told me Rind. C&A's are the only ones that nobody complains about pushing....
