I am considering going from an Attack to an XTX and was wondering what others that made this switch thought? I ride trails in northern Wisconsin and the UP, don't go off trail and don't ditch bang. I am very familiar with how to set-up the Attack and have felt for the last 2 years that it is the best all around trail sled. But, my son crashed my Attack and it will probably be totaled. I am leaning toward another Attack but would like some opinions from others that have went from the Attack to the XTX and how they compare for trail riding. Thanks! I did do a search because I figured this was asked already but, didn't find anything, so sorry if re-post question!

switch

Go for the xtx, I had an attack with 8500 miles on it and thought i would never switch, well after 1200 miles on my new xtx I wont be going back to an attack!!

if your only on good trails & don,t play in deep snow keep the attak.
What Turk says..ExactlyI came from an 07 attak & for groomed trails you can't beat the attak. It's a cruiser.Playing in the ditches etc"XTX"

I have both, 2007 Attak GT and a 2009 Nytro XTX. I also thought that my attak was the best think ever. Now i have the XTX since 2 weeks and i can't beleive how good is the sled!! I never had so much fun on a snowmobile!! The motor has so much torque it put a smile on your face everytime you give it some gas!! The handling is very good and it really turns like a 121, much better than the attak. From 0 to 80 mph nothing will stay with it, it's in front of XP 800, Mach Z, Apex etc.. But it,s not a top speed sled, still it's good for 100-105 mph. Best sled i've ever ride, i don't know, it feel lighter, quicker, and it's much more fun. Go for it!

Well, I made the change. I still have an 07 Attack but got an XTX last week. I only have about 100 miles in the saddle of the XTX on trails that have marginal base and snow. My impression is the attack when set -up correctly will handle as well if not better. On my attack with stock ski's, 8" carbides, limiter shortened one hole, weight transfer set half way between standard and minimum, 13mm sway bar and front shock preload reduced to almost nothing; it handles great. Yes it's heavy and hard steering with a little inside ski lift but, hey that's why I go to the gym. The XTX I have reduced the weight transfer to 1/2 turn away from the red line, shortened the limiter 1 hole, reduced the preload on the center shock and the compression dampening on the front shock; it's still tippy and doesn't handle as well as my attack. Last but not least the xtx has some minor problems you will have to address. Fender washers and reverse bolts on limiter or it rubs and will eventually fail, massive ice build up in the tunnel so fabricate and install a block off plate, excessive hyfay wear so must fadricate or come up with another set of wheels. I have no idea if it has over heating issues??? The jury is still out on the XTX. I have to wait and see if my wife likes it if not it may be up for sale next week. It has the 10.4 gallon tank, hand guards with dumbo ears, bar riser, taller shield with side wind deflectors, mirrors, 5 year warranty and the cable grab for off trail stuff. I should have bought Knaps 07 Attack!

The riding position is different. I have a 2" riser on the XTX which makes it feel even more different when sitting. I will give it a fair chance. We are riding from Green Bay to Iron mountain then up by Lance and back to Iron mountain and then back to Green Bay. It should be a 600 mile weekend. I think after this weekend I will have a better feel for the sled and possible change how I ride. I'm not afraid to drag a knee on snow if that's what it takes to make this thing corner flat! Maybe I should take the pucs off my motorcycle leathers! LOL

I ride the same trails....Norther WI primarily and UP occasionally. Went from Attack to XTX and have never looked back. Added CurveX skis and made it a completely different sled in the twisties. I do some ditch banging and occasional off trail, but mostly trail ride. I would never consider going back to the Attack. feels like a heavy pig compared to my XTX. I am addicted to the way it handles and sounds, along with acceleration. I added full excell exhaust, intake kit and, pc3 and Ulmer stage one and now it will beat my buddies Apex RTX every time from 0 to 90, then his motor and gearing take over.

I would NEVER consider going back to an Attack. Just my opinion.
