Not to rain on anyones parade, or start an argument, but can you actually tell the difference, performance wise? Can you tell the difference when you go to lift the sled up?
If you weren't concious of the actual weight difference, and relocation, could you really tell the difference between a stock RX-1 and one with a lighter/relocated battery?
While I certainly appreciate the mod for being able to service the oil filter easier, and the relatively cheep cost of replacement, I can't help but be concerned with some of the issues, as reported, and I tend to question the dependability factor somewhat (carry a syringe to fill carbs  )?

lightweight battery
The battery saves 10 lbs and has lots of cranking power.

Had to move some wires in main harness to relocte stuff. The YTZ7S is 4.8 lbs. Worked great last 2 years! Moved 15 lbs back 24 inches. Made front end much lighter, plus dont have to remove battery to get to oil filter.
this sounds interesting. Could you post some pics so we cn all see?

Can you tell the difference just from the battery? Probably not. You will notice more when your tank gets 1/2 empty. But, with the battery, ECP filters, lighter A arms, seat, gutted muff etc, you start to notice it a lot (especially when your tank gets 1/2 emtpy). Good luck.

Just the YTZ7S battery alone saves 10 lbs, so removing the stock battery bracket and junking it will save even more.
I never had any problems at all for 2 1/2 years now. I just make sure it is plugged into my optimate battery charger the day before a ride.
It does not have as many CCA's or the reserve of the YTX20's, so if you roll it over or flood the engine, you need to pull the air box lid and wait to start untill gas can evaperate. It will turn engine over for about 1 1/2 minutes, enough time to start in almost any condition.
Plus i was able to wrap rope around clutch and start it that way too. On a cold motor, started first pull!
