Lately my sled, 07 rtx, has become much faster.
Last weekend it beat a 2012 doo 800 etec in the morning, and beat an 05 mach 1 in the afternoon twice, all on very even starts. I never had beaten the mach before. No sled touched me all weekend...and it feels good.
There are a few possibilities of this i can think of.
I am now running dupont hyfax.
I am running almost no ski pressure.
I put on a larger windshield. I dont feel the wall of air hitting me in the chest...perhaps the larger shield is redirecting ar more efficiently.
The track is not studded and we were on well compacted snow on the lake
The weather was -8celcius. My apex seems comparitively better at warmer temps than at say-20 c.
Whatever the reason or reasons, i like it.

All the above.
Teflon smoother & faster than plastic, Windy good for 2-3 mph up top, no ski pressure less drag, Apex's like hardpack.

Also with more milage the 4stroke Yamahas get stronger typically.
Friday I saw 113 on speedo and 109 gps on a railbed in Northern Maine. 3500 miles on my 11 Apex...I'm pretty happy with that considering what many others are saying about the 11's.
Hopefully it keeps getting faster!

2006 Apex RTX
They're like women...sometimes they go...sometimes they don't. It is funny how on different days you can have such different reults. I hit 127 speedo on rail bed in Patten,ME during day. Hooked up my GPS on Portage lake which was harder & colder. Only saw 103 GPS (115 speedo), with the wind, same place i saw 130 speedo last year. Thought something was wrong, next day saw 108 GPS (120 speedo), into the wind, for what seemed like slower conditions. MOOD swings i guess. My stock windshield was faster than my shorty, but the TALL one was 10 mph slower on top...Snow conditions, temp, humidity, moisture all play a huge part in day to day fluctuations, but i'm stickin' to MOOD swings...BTW, MY sled runs faster on top with strap pulled up one & track tension set to stock settings...
Steve, probably the same railbed I was on Friday! Coming from Patten almost into Sherman?

you only see 111 on radar? i had an 07 GT (no longer with me) that i had 121 on radar on back to back runs, and a buddys 06 RTX would do 120 on back to back runs. both stock sleds with studded tracks (i had around 196 studs on mine)

The 07-09 RTX was geared low. Corner to corner acceleration on those sleds is very strong. Mine felt just as strong mid range as my Dad's 12. His 2012 has a lot more top end though.
My biggest problem with mine was traction. 150 HP 4 cylinder torque monster with low gearing and a 121" track = tons of spinning!

Where did you see 111 radar on the apex in this post/ And your apex at 121 or 120 gps on packed snow,is the fastest apex none boosted I have ever heard of,on ice in 2000-5000 feet I have seen some stock apex's run 120 but never on snow, that one was a keeper.HartleRacing said:you only see 111 on radar? i had an 07 GT (no longer with me) that i had 121 on radar on back to back runs, and a buddys 06 RTX would do 120 on back to back runs. both stock sleds with studded tracks (i had around 196 studs on mine)
