Im working on a friends 02 grizzly 660 that wont start when its cold. You push the button and the thing turns over and over. No amount of choke or throttle or any combination will make it do anything but a few weak fires now and then. He said he has been able to get it started with the pull cord better than the button. I put in a new spark plug and plug cap as well as a choke kit that it needed but other than that everything looks good. Once I get it started and let it warm up it starts instantly with the push of the button. One other thing I noticed is when I rev it up and let off the throttle it takes longer to come down then it should. Would low compression cause that?? Or possibly an air leak somewhere in the intake leining it out???
Also the Reverse light started flashing for a few minutes one time when I had it running. Is that a code??
Thanks!!!

have you sprayed eather/quickstart around the carb boot? sounds like the pilot jet is too small too but more likely a vacume leak or valves need setting.
mine starts hard too when it is really cold out. have to leave the choke on for over 15min before it idles without it.

I was just thinking of trying that. I found a crank seal leak on an old xcr 800 I had once like that. I went out this morning and the machine has been in the garrage all night and it was about 50degrees in there so not too cold and the thing would not start. I turned it over and over and over and it would constantly fire as I held the button in but would not start. If I can get it started today I will try spraying some eather and see if it revs up.
does anyone have the stock carb settings and jet sizes for the grizzly This one is an 02 but I think they are all the same. The fuel screw was turned out 2.5 turns when I had the carb off. That seams like alot to me but I dont have the specs so I left it at that.

The first sign of valves out of adjustment is hard starting. I also had a cold blooded 660 and one size bigger with the pilot jet solved the problem.

If you take the seat off, remove the air filter and put your hand in front of the air intake it will start right away.Believe me,iv'e done it everytime it's cold out
