Take a punch & hit on the end of the threads were the nut is. Leave the nut on incase you end up hitting the threads. Typically you would use a pickle fork, but they dont make them that small. Sometimes hitting around the sides were it the tie rod end goes in gets them out. Its easier to remove them when the column is still bolted in. If you dont want a big gapping whole after the post moves ahead, Mountian Mod makes a new cowel.

red i hit it a bunch of times with the bolt on top it wouldnt come out... im not sure where to go now

Thats odd, do you have acces to an air hammer?

no i don't..... my only worry is if i hit it to hard i will damage that ball joint should i be concerned about that??

Another way, its kinda a pain. Measure, mark, etc, then undo the jam nut. Then unthread the tie rod end. Meaning you will have the old steering post with the tierod still attached. Then you will be able to work on it in a vise. Or take it to some buddy with a press. It wont take much to break free. Its the joys of rust with a taper. Guess worse case, you will have to buy 1 new tie rod if it it gets damaged. You could try penetrating oils.

I had to use penetrating oil, but I had alredy damaged the nut and threads.

Apply the oil and leave it for a day or so.

well with a numch of penetrating oil and some hammering i got it out..... here is some pics of the rider forward in with my bars mounted on them.... thanks for all the help guys!!
