I have the opportunity to buy a 144x2x15 Challenger track tomorrow. Its prenotched for tunnel protectors. Will this fit on a XTX? Anyone have any detailed instructions for doing a track swap on a Nytro?

It should fit. The hard part will be pulling the chain case.

It should fit. I put a 1.75 BC on last year and have plenty of room but I pulled the protectors to help reduce the icing in the tunnel. Doing the swap is real easy. There is a detailed how to in the Nytro FAQ thread that I used and had absolutely no issues. Swap only took me under 2 hours. Removing the protectors is what took me longer. Good luck with everything and enjoy

There is some good instructions on track change in this forum so it is pretty straight forward

I use to have it on my xtx, no problem at all.
Remove the stud protectors and use 19-40 gearing works great.

Picked the track up today! It's a Camoplast Challenger 1602-137. Three torn lugs but only about a thousand miles on it. Snagged it for $200.

I love the 2" challenger on the XTX

What should I do for gearing?

I just dropped a tooth on my top gear and am running 20/39 and I love it for my Backcountry. I would like to go down to a 19 and see how that is as I expect it to be a little better. I would think with the challenger a 19t top would be the ticket unless you were interested in changing the bottom gear but that's a bunch more cash you'll need to drop on it

19-40 works great calculated top speed is 90mph at 8800 rpm.

19-40 is a good choice, depending on elevation you run at.....besides, if you want to run 90mph with a 2" lug, you will be missing alot more lugs in a hurry.
Lower is better for belt wear, and big tracks's are slower...period. Personally, I'd pick a gear ratio that fits your style of riding. I'd trade power delivery for top end any day, because it is the difference between being stuck and not.
So X2 mrtwostroke, 19-40 is a great choice.

Would 20/40 gearing work well with 144 2.5 track? Sled has Turbo, 190 kit. Ride mountains and not concerned about top speed. Thanks

I run the challenger 2" and love it. I took out all tunnel protection and went to 8 tooth drivers. So in a way that geared it down already, if I were to drop to a 20 tooth top gear would that help out even better with the belt burning smell I get occasionally in the deep snow?

Swapping out backcountry with stock gearing for a 2" and 8 tooth drivers. I ride 90% off trail and don't care about top speed. Thinking of using a 19 tooth top gear. Will this be a good set up for me? Will my Clutching be off?
