Just wondering if a 18 or 19 tooth top sprocket will last in an rx-1. I am trying to gear it down a bit, and with 42 being the largest bottom, I was thinking of running a 19 (or 18) with 9 tooth drivers. I don't need any top speed, just a bit more power. Any thoughts?
Can I get 300 miles out of it?

Hi Lance, are you running 500 or 660 feet? My initial thought is it will not last. But 300 miles on a trail? Maybe. 19/42....It sure will be quick. Good luck. Muskrat

18 tooth
I've run 18 tooth sprockets in my 700mm for years, but you have to make sure you keep the chain adjusted. I had one stretch in just 6 miles and took the teeth right off the sprocket. With the extra torque of the rx1 you'll need to adjust untill it quits stretching ,Ken.

No, I am not drag racing, just using it in the mountains, where top end is of no real use.
My arctic cat 900 1M uses a 19 tooth top sprocket, it doesn't last forever but it does last a while.
The reason for the 300 miles is the fact that it never seems to snow in ND, so the only miles it sees are in the mountains, a 12-15 hour trip away.
Thanks, Lance
