I just bought a 2012 Nytro with the mid windshield and side deflectors, I am 6'1" and was wondering if this windshield will be tall enough to keep the wind out of my face or if I need to go taller. I am all about being warm even if it doesn't look cool. Just looking for some input from fellow nytro owners. Thanks

My 09 had the mid height with side deflectors and its somewhat comfortable but you still catch it in the helmet. Im 5'9. I said screw it and bought the tiny 08 rtx chrome windshield to get the full effect of speed! Sometimes it feels like im gonna fall off!

I have the accessory windshield/side deflectors and I am 6'1 as well. You will be fine with that set up. Offers pretty good wind protection. BTW, add your location to your profile so we know where you are from and how cold it gets where you ride.

I bought the bigger yamaha slip on wind deflectors for our hand guards, they were a big help, as well as yamaheaters of course.

While I've never tried a mid windshield, I can give my experience with the tall.
I'm 6'0", traveling at 80km/h (50mph) the tall shield defects the wind right to the top of my helmet. On a warm day, I can open the top vent, and feel the air being forced into my helmet.
If you wear an MX helmet, I've found that ducking down about an inch keeps the beak out of the wind shake zone, as the tall deflects it right over you.
From what it sounds like, you want complete deflection of the wind out of your face. The tall might be a better solution for you.

X2 i have the tall and ride w an MX helmet and over 40 mph the wind is right in my face even with the tall. just cant bring myself to buy the super windshield cuz it looks so bad.. If it gonna be below zero F i put on my modular helmet cuz its warmer. Its still better than the little chrome piece that it came with lol...Omega_5 said:While I've never tried a mid windshield, I can give my experience with the tall.

Your all about being warm and you bought a nytro? I think you bought the wrong sled but seriously they really arent as cold as everyone makes them out to be. I have a mid windy and it hits me right in the neck, im 6' 3" too.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I think you stay reasonably warm on the Nytros because it's not a "sit back and tool around sled". You have to work on these sleds.

IMHO I think the Nytro looks dumb with a big windshield...I ride with the stock one that comes on the SE. Invest yer money in some Klim gear and you'll be just fine!!!!!

IMO, not matter what windshield you run, the side deflectors are a must to keep the wind off your mid section.

the mid windshield deflects the wind too my forehead area.
The wind deflectors really help the groin area/ belly.

There must be a little height difference between you and I
I am thinking about putting the small 08 water dish back on, at least then it hits me all over and not so concentrated in the neck area. Just a thought......

Hey now... I have the tall shield and I don't think it looks so bad... The sled's "warmer" with it for sure. I like the way it looks.
To each his own I guess...
