Was changing the oil today in the sled and that harness rub I read about was bugging me, so I tore into it.
Of course, off comes the light assy, the frame it sits on, tear down the steering assy and remove the airbox. (Good opportunity to check everything out while I was at it, all looked good.
This is where the harness rubs against the motor. This is an 11 sled, so I think the nub that was pointed out in another thread had been removed already, but I could still tell there was rubbing. Looking straight on into the sled:
Here you can see where the rub was into the harness:
Opening the harness, I could see 1 wire that has been rubbing. It had started to go through the coating....
Quick tape job on the wire...
Taped up the harness, put plenty of it on so as to protect it from further rubbing, and wire tied it into a different location...
One less thing to worry about.

My 09 had worn almost completely thru several wires. Occasionally my battery would die overnight and this was the culprit. Once I fixed the wires my problems stopped. If anyone out there hasn't looked into this issue make sure you do, it's not too hard to fix but it could leave you stranded if it isn't taken care of.

look on the left side behind your secondary clutch on the rad brace as well. Almost left me in the middle of no where one time that's to that one. I think if you search blown ignition fuse on here you'll find my posts about it with pics. I use heater hose to protect my wiring on any rub spots. Will never rub through then.

I just got my Nytro and I don't know exactly where this harness is exactly. Can you be more specific on where this harness is ?Was changing the oil today in the sled and that harness rub I read about was bugging me, so I tore into it.

Hatim, if you take your shroud(top assembly with windshield attached) off, you will see the rad overflow(white plastic container). Look in behind that where there is a bolt on the side of the motor with an 8 on it, and there are two vertical grooves cast in the metal, it is the wiring harness that runs along that, about the thickness of a finger, that they are talking about. Looks like Snakebit has taken the airbox off to get better access to it. With less effort, you can take the left side body panel off, take your belt protector guard off, and you can access that location to the left of the primary sheave. Push the wire bundle away from the metal and you may see the rub. If it is not through like in this photo that I have attached, I would think that you could just split a piece of one inch long, snug fitting piece of heater hose and slip it over the wire at that location. It might fit better if you carefully remove that nub also(
hacksaw blade, and file?).
