Worst year I've ever seen!

i guess i could go if i wanted to drive 6-8hrs each way to get to cochrane or 4-5 to quebec. we do have snow here but it sucks so i haven't bothered buying a pass this yr. why bother, get maybe 3 weeks of riding. it's the third week of feb guys all week is supposed to be above 0 and rain or sun. the beginning of march it's all over for muskoka.
that's why i got into atving at least i can use them all yr long.
for those of you that have had a yr like mine i simpathize and for those that have had a great yr congradulations, enjoy it because it will soon be over.
this winter sucks :crap: !

I am returning from a snowmobile trip in Ontario right now. Where are those lodges located at that your talking about? Here is a pic of the wifes Apex and my Attak just north of New Liskard.

How far are you from North Bay or Trout Creek? No need to drive 6-8 hours.
I use my ATV all year, did 25kms on the lake yesterday with it.

Amen on being the worst ever. What makes it even worse is that you can barely walk outside without slippin'n slidin' all over the place. Ice everywhere from thaughing and freezing up again.

I managed to put on a couple of hunderd km, but I had to trailer the sleds to Halliburton ON.

If your question was directed to me, I was talking about three lodges in north eastern MN along the Gunflint Trail.

The wife and I just added 1200 miles on both the Apex and Attak over the ladt 10 days. Pembroke to Timmons Ontario and back. The snow is in northern Ontario, you just need to drive to it.

Yes they have the snow but the grooming sucks! Girlfriend and I just got back from 3 days of what susppose to be a 4 dayer from North Bay up to Larder Lake and back but we got beat up so bad we came home early!!

900 Kms this weekend, St. Agathe to Grande Mare, back around the the park to Saint Michel Des Saints, St Donat back to St. Agathe. Great snow, mostly great trails, loved every minute of it! Forcast not good so might be over quick...

Really...? that is too bad. We did the same trip the wkd of FEB 10th and it was fantastic. There were a few rough sections but no longer than 10 - 15 miles. Had a great ride Monday Feb 13 from North Bay to Mattawa and back. South trial out and North trail back. Table-top all the way except for the first 10 miles outside of North Bay.

Agreed there is nothing worse than getting out on a trip to put on big miles and get nothing but bumps.....The remedy for this is to go north my friends....Start in New Liskeard and go north to Cochrane, Kap, Hearst, Wawa, Chapleau, Timmins and back.

none of my buddies want to go anymore they say it's a cost thing. by the time they kick in for gas to get here or there, gas for the sled, lodging, food and drink they're into $400-$500 for the weekend. a family can do quite a bit for that money, i also agree that's almost a yr's worth of gas if we got snow around here.

Who ever said that snowmobiling is cheap? For me personally I can not think of any better way to spend my hard earned money!

Want snow? Buy my sled and it will snow into july.
Cant effin beleive it. I buy a sled and we get the worst winter ever.

For you MN boys, I was up on the hill behind Grand Marais, Gunflint Trail, and they do appear to have enough snow up there. I didn't have the sled but all reports are the trails are good and forecast calls for a few more inches this week.

I had heard the same and I was thinking about possibly heading up there and stay at Devil's Track Lodge or the Windigo Lodge, or even Hungry Jacks. Has anyone been riding up there that can comment on the trail conditions?

I was up there over President's weekend. I know it is hard to believe but they have about 16" of snow on the ground. We stayed at the Best Western in Grand Marais and trailered up to Devils Track. We headed up the Gunflint on Friday evening, had dinner at Hungry Jack (they have a lodge that looks to be pretty much brand new... apparently the old one burned down a few years ago). After dinner we went up to the Gunflint Lodge which is just about at the end of the trail and turned around and headed back and hit the bar scene at Windigo. The airline on my M-20 busted off about a mile from Devils Track lake on the way home at 2:00 AM. That was a little over 100 miles. Trails were bumpy in spots but didn't see any bare spots.

The next day I had to rent a POS Ski Doo GSX 500 (cost me $240) and we rode out to Grand Portage all the way to Rydens at the boarder. The trails out that way were MUCH better than around the Gunflint. A few of the hills and corners had bare spots as we got closer to the lake up by the boarder, but only had to drive on gravel and cement for about 100 yards to get gas up there. We ran into a couple of guys that actually rode on grass and mud for about 2 miles just to get into the casino up there. Since I was on a way overpriced rental, I briefly considered having my buddy hop on the back and heading into the casino to try to win some money to help pay for the rental! Decided not to do it because I thought that it might be bad karma to abuse a sled like that 50 miles from the nearest town with no cell coverage! That trip ended up being about 130 miles. We hit a few lakes along the trail, but the snow was pretty compacted and hard. Overall it was well worth the trip just to be able to ride a little. The trails were not croweded at all... we passed maybe 20 sleds total in 230 miles of riding.

Our plan was to head down to Lutsen on Sunday, but I couldn't stomach the thought of dropping more money on a rental, so we packed it up and headed home. I think that with a few inches of new snow and some grooming, the trails should be pretty decent for a few more weeks if it doesn't warm up too much.

just got back from gaspesie..theres 3-4 feet at sea level and 6-7 in the mountains..and yes the trails are awsum..rode 8 days and we found spots in clear cuts and cut new tracks in powder everyday.. ;)!.

Bigreis where did the air line break on your m20? I broke mine with less than 200 miles on it. Clamped to tight from factory the stainless steel line
