Well said Yamahaguys!Your either on the hill looking down at base camp or your at base camp wondering why you're not running a bigger track. Lol

I just figured those track were made by going down not up! Lol actually everytime I see all those tracks I say Crazy *******!If you're not getting stuck, you're not trying hard enough. Most days, we are all stuck at least once.
I agree that cobra will go most places, but it takes more track speed giving less control in the technical stuff. I too can go most places the PC guys can, but I can't always do it at a slow controlled speed.
Deeper lug allows better sled control and slower speeds. Bonsai runs in deep open country are one thing, but climbs through the trees are completely different. In the trees, sled control is everything. The trees we ride in don't get out of the way. When you hit them, you bend stuff.
We rode two weeks back with a guest who is also a TY member. He commented that he always pictured the sledsthat made those tracks climbing through the trees as beat up long track Polaris and Doos, and not a group of guys on 2015 Vipers.
For our type of non-mountain off trail riding in Northern Michigan hill country, more lug is best.

Dangit you guys are getting me pumped! I think I can even smell snow.

Yup its snowing here even! Got to get out one more time.

@SnoNinja - I might need some directions to some off these off trail spots! Are you mostly riding in the Gaylord area where your from, or going somewhere else? After a week riding at Togwotee out west this year, I am definitely wanting to find more of that style riding in michigan.
I'm settling in on the XTX LE as my ride for next year, with possible track change if the powerclaw doesn't work out, and adding a hygear if needed.
Here's a vid of our trip out west:

Oh I agree and I never said I did not get stuck but I have never had a sled that I could burry the nose to the windshield get off walk to the front tamp down under the front of the track then jump on both ski tips get back on it and pin it and stand it almost straight up and it walks right out.

Yep, that will work on the flat or semi flat, but not so much when the going gets steep. Usually getting stuck requires some amount of help to get unstuck......We don't even count it as a "stuck" unless someone else has to touch your sled or otherwise assist in the getting unstuck LOL.Oh I agree and I never said I did not get stuck but I have never had a sled that I could burry the nose to the windshield get off walk to the front tamp down under the front of the track then jump on both ski tips get back on it and pin it and stand it almost straight up and it walks right out.

Just Great!

Good thing we don't have pictures of the SnoNinja getting stuck 3 times in less 3 minutes! We got videos for that one instead!

That picture of me was from the "three strikes and your out" stuck series, and it was more like ten minutes as it took at least five minutes to get unstuck the first time. Besides, it doesn't count because I went down the hill and started over. Once you go back down to base camp, you get free do overs.Just Great!I see that I have the last 2 stuck pictures....

You must remember that I ride a 137 " "trail" sled with no turbo. Yes there are reports that there might have been some light modifications for "light" off trail use, but I can neither confirm or deny such reports. You on the other hand have a 141 LE, which Yamaha so proudly reproduced as an MTX in 2016. Your Mountain Sled has a 2.25" track, super wide skis, and a turbo to boot. There really is no excuses for you to ever be stuck....

So there your sign! A 2.25 can and will get stuck just like a 1.6 i ride with a gauy with a 2.25 pc and i got stuck about 30' off trail he was coming to rescue me and he was stucker at less than 20'.
2 yrs ago we had a freak spring storm that dumped almost 3' with high winds and at some road dutches they were 10' deep. I stuck it good this guy came along in a 550 fan and asked if i needrd help i said no i will leave it tull spring. He packed the front jumped on it lit the wick and walked it in its tail straight up the embankment to the road. Turns out his turbo big bire polaris mountain sled us parked at Bondurants plaace out west where he rides 2 weeks a month. He took my 141" 1.6 iut fir a rude and dud thungs with it u ciuld not believe. When he returned he said it would have ni triuvle out west if you have tge skills except maybe on the straight up climbs in new snow

Yep, we can get them all stuck. Even the 153's. But, the PC will just go more places with more control than the 1.6. Don't get me wrong, I like the 1.6 for mixed riding, however, for the steep and deep, more track is better. This post was about the PC on the XTX. In my experience, if you're gonna primarily play off trail and don't care much about on trail manners, the PC is the better choice. If your gonna ride trails where handling matters and still want to play off trail, I would stick with the Cobra.
We also need to keep in mind that most guys aren't pushing the HP that you are, and frankly, its not a fair comparison to say that the 1.6 is equal to the PC because you can walk your sled out of a stuck. Most of us don't have the HP in reserve to make that possible.
