Has anyone been using the Nytro XTX in the mountains, and if so what track are you using? I am going out west for the first time and what to put a paddle track on my sled so any of you have experience with doing so? Looking for lots of help with set up?
New sled, new ideas running shallow as of yet.
If it were my sled - (I ride out west...ALWAYS)
I would put on extensions, or Iceage rails and a 153" Powerclaw.
That being said, I dunno where you ride most of the time. Anything other than the stock maverick will be a step up. The Camo x-treme is a very good track, and I think they make it in the 144"?????
Like I say, ANYTHING but the POS that comes from the factory, but for out west - track length is the ticket.
If you have expendable funds, stretch'er out to 162"!

Do the nytros have trouble with icing up?..should a guy get some snow skinz to cover the vents or not?

My o8 with the 144 Ulmer rails worked really well with the 1.75 backcountry and yammi mountain skis. It didn't have trouble with icing but snow buildup behind the panels made it difficult to take them off due to icing. This year I screened the upper vents and made a piece of aluminum drilled with 3/8 holes to fit behind the grill on the lower plastic on the oil tank side.
But next year it is seeing a 2 inch finger track for safe measure

Moto is right, build the sled for what you do most, or where you get the most joy out of it...
you can now make a sled soooo specialized it is useless for other stuff...
If your building it for climbing then the longer the better...and no less than 2.25" paddles, and not all 2.25" are created equal...oh and boost...well it ROCKS!!!!!
if your building it for all around, much longer than 153, and you start to compromse turning and some jumping stability/strength...(but no less than 2" paddle for the hills)
If your building it for jumping 136 or 144, and 2" paddles...
loads of options...
