My brother has an 07 apex rtx with around 1800 miles and either wants to stretch it with a 144 kit from tracks usa for 980 or sell it and get a 2012 xtx with exup and eps. Is there a big diffrece which is the better route to go? If you had the money go with the 12 for eps diffrent seat exup?

Having streteched a trail sled before with a kit I would either buy a longer skid and install it or purchase a newer sled with the skid length you want.
Hartmann and Tracks make nice kits but I found it difficult to tune in the suspension. Once I had it tuned it rode nice but what a PITA to get it tuned.

I drove my 12 xtx last week in the woods like if it was a dirt bike. I don't think I ever actually sat down on the seat, I was either leaning way off to one side or the other of the seat or standing. I think the power steering worked awesome for this type of crazy riding and really made it that more enjoyable. When I am on the trail, I don't think it would matter to me as much if I had power steering or not. In fact I read somewhere where the power stearing doesn't work over a certain MPH. Don't ask me how it would know how fast your are going.

In short if you drive it like a dirt bike, the power steering is awesome!!!!

I have same sled 07 Rtx and tested out an XTX this year. Tell him don't waste anymore time or money on the '07. XTX all the way!!! I will be on this machine if I don't do a new Viper. New machine may still be called an Apex but it is a completely different (much better) sled. Also not easy to stretch a CK twin shocker and Hartman will only sell a 136 kit for it.

Go with the '12 XTX. I did the 07 GT stretch to 136 and was never happy with it. The 07 was fast but the '12 is ballistic.
Power steering makes it very easy to steer even with 8" carbides. Great suspension. Very very very happy with my '12 XTX!

I just got my 13 XTX, put 300 miles on it in the UP. I was very skeptical about an apex.....mostly because of weight. I LOVE this sled, the sound, the power....everything. Its OK off trail but nothing to write home about, on the trails its an animal. I rode 300 miles on day 1 and wanted to just keep on riding......Never been this happy with a sled before!
