So even with all the people that seem to dislike the Nytro XTX, I decided to give it a try. I am coming off of a Apex Attak mostly due to the fact my back has been giving me problems and I needed a machine that could handle the rough stuff without bottoming out. I have driven my brothers '09 xtx and while I didn't like it in the corners, it handled the rough stuff great. So I picked up a new to me '12 xtx and have zero mods. After almost 350 miles Thursday and Friday, I new the suspension was a little too stiff for me. A quick change to the setting to "soft" on the back, a reduction to both compression and rebound on the front, I was pretty good to go. No ski lift, might need slight more transfer to the back for hook up. Otherwise happy the way it rides and corners. Certainly not a sled on rails type of ride, but without being studed, I can still power around the corners pretty decent and was faster than 3 121 tracks this past weekend (mostly rider). Not sure what the complaint is about the stock skis - with duallys - seem to be fine. Still need to adjust the light some - the split between low and high beam seems to be too big.

On the negative - gas tank is too small, but everyone here knows that. Top end - wish it was a little more - on loose snow, hit 90 - maybe could have hit 92 or so. My buddy wrecked on a corner at night and I was using my machine to light his up and assess. When I did that, I received the overheat light within a few minutes (was riding very hard prior to this). With a quick spin in the powder, light was off. Hand warmers were fine - never ran on high. I may actually be able to run lighter gloves. Windshield sucks - going to go bigger. Gauges - little to be desired here as well.

But overall, think I will be happy with the machine. Yes, not for everyone, but for me, certainly no hate. Just thought I would post a positive report for a change.

Good write up SJB, it is a machine to fit a certain type of rider and fill some needs not all. Sounds like you can overcome some of your least desirable traits easy enough. Adding a trail tank or accessory can isn't going to break the bank. Here's to a positive post spreading some Nytro love!

Definitely consider the Trail Tank. I added one this year, and I cant tell you what a difference it makes riding with that kind of range now. I know the earlier tanks had their quirks but the new generation tanks seem to have all the bugs worked it. Finish is awesome, looks virtually like it did before. Only now I can get an easy 230km from a tank.

The Nytro doesnt have a ton of cooling services so when its hot, it doesnt take long to bring on the light, especially at idle. Take a look at the Mo Flow consule vent, I added one this year and when my sled idles now and the fan kicks in, it can draw good cool air for the rad. It can now idle way longer than before with this mod.

Have fun.

Sevey. Noticed you have in your mods list , scratchers on underside of boards. I have a set lying around and would love to have a pic of how you have them mounted.

Sjb . Glad to hear your happy. Love the nytro xtx myself.

It took a little tweaking but I love my xtx as well!

I hear people say the nytro isn't a good trail sled, call me crazy but I rather my nytro over my vector for any kind of riding! So much so that the vector has only seen about 1000 km since I got my nytro, all but about 150 by my other half.

Yep I love mine as well and other then Tuner skis and Dupont sliders it is 100% stock. This sled seems to be love it or hate it. I have never really spent much time on a short track Nytro so maybe the longer track helps balance it out. I often hear that the XTX is a lot nicer to ride then the shorties. I'm not sure if that is fact or opinion, but I'm happy with mine.

I like mine a lot as well. If you can't compensate for a sleds handling by moving around on the seat, maybe you need a grand touring. My rev was no difference than my nytro in that regard, if I sat back in the seat on the mxz rev it wouldn't steer worth a #*$&@ either. It's not a flat trail cruiser sled at heart, it's a bump eater though, I like mine.
