Let me first start off by saying I am as die hard Yammie fan as they come, that being said I've got some concerns about Yamahas new venture back into sno-x. While it is great that they are putting forth the effort again and have a great young racer in Robbie Malinoski, I think their direction is way off course. It has been said he will race a mod Nytro, much like we saw a few last season and I think this is where Yamaha is going down the wrong street. The sled they should be racing is the Phazer! Everyone knows the Nytro Deltabox chassis is not the big air lightweight that it will be facing on the track. The Nytro is a great sled for what it is meant for, the aggressive trail, not the sno-x track. It will be tough I think for our Yammie racers to be compettive on a consistent basis. The new Phazer in marketed as a lightweight (which it is) exciting, freeride sled, and the FX chassis with the 120 hp motor or maybe a proto 900cc twin is what I think they should be racing. Lets face it, the sled they raced last winter had the Phazer front end on it, and if history repeats its self, the Nytro will be in the Deltabox II next year anyway. That chassis is a proven oval, ice and cross country racer, but the big air, sharp turns, and short tracks will be to tough to tame vs the comepitions pourpose built sno-x race sleds. I wish them the best of luck. Also it would be cool the see WSPA form a four stroke class that just Phazers race in. imo Just my thoughts, what do you think?

I think the Phazer is not allowed to race because of the gear reduction. I beleive thats the only motor that will fit in that chassis, hence the Nytro being the sno-x sled for this year.

That is not really a Nytro as we know it. I could not even imagine the cost of the race sled, it is built from exotic metals and carbon fiber. Very light weight, should be interesting to watch the attempt.

They will .....sooner than you think, and it will have more than 2 cyls.

The new Phazer I believe will be the new platform for future models. I believe you will see a phazer or very similar, racing in SnowX next year. More engine options available also! Just my 2 cents!

Doug & Mongo are correct. The open mod race Nytro isn't very Nytro aside from the motor.

A Phazer with a 120 motor is my desired sled but my dealer said the 120 won't fit. I'm sure they will be coming out with something else.

Didn't work too good this year. It will be interesting to see how it does next year. Yamaha has discontinued the Pro-racing here in Scandinavia, and starts their own Phazer-cup instead...

Last year Yamaha used 2 different types of Nytro's one using the same engine and chassis, but using the stock Nytro a-arms as we all know from the rx1 type chassis, and the other using the a-arms from the new Phazer line and a totally different hand made tunnel and chassis combination, i believe yamaha was duing this to determine what type will do best under the hard conditions, i read somewere that WSA will have to use an almost trail look to there sleds using what the buyer would have on the trail with the use of modifications to the engine and traction. Last year was just a way to get the fans back on the blue side. It seem'd to work in that everybody wants and loves the look of the Phazer and the Nytro look going for the sno cross look and the 4 stroke power, lets hope Yamaha and Robi Malinowski can pull away and see team blue on the podium..

Just my 2 cents. GO #4

I remember seeing those pics last winter. You confirmed what I suspected about the handmade chassis. I wonder why they didn't run the tank further forward?

Try to make the weight even, id guess all the weight is at the front of the sled.

Im sure they wont start out kickin A$$.. but by the end of the year , they should have it figured out..

My buddies watched yamaha race in illinios last spring... and couldnt believe how poorly they did... They said they looked like amautures out there.. sleds rode like a brick and couldnt take the big bumps..

I did however notice there new sled has the phazer front suspension

That makes sense about balance. I wonder if they will be able to move the rider even more forward for this year. If they can get the guy more on top of the engine, then everything should be pretty centralized.
