Let me first start off by saying I am as die hard Yammie fan as they come, that being said I've got some concerns about Yamahas new venture back into sno-x. While it is great that they are putting forth the effort again and have a great young racer in Robbie Malinoski, I think their direction is way off course. It has been said he will race a mod Nytro, much like we saw a few last season and I think this is where Yamaha is going down the wrong street. The sled they should be racing is the Phazer! Everyone knows the Nytro Deltabox chassis is not the big air lightweight that it will be facing on the track. The Nytro is a great sled for what it is meant for, the aggressive trail, not the sno-x track. It will be tough I think for our Yammie racers to be compettive on a consistent basis. The new Phazer in marketed as a lightweight (which it is) exciting, freeride sled, and the FX chassis with the 120 hp motor or maybe a proto 900cc twin is what I think they should be racing. Lets face it, the sled they raced last winter had the Phazer front end on it, and if history repeats its self, the Nytro will be in the Deltabox II next year anyway. That chassis is a proven oval, ice and cross country racer, but the big air, sharp turns, and short tracks will be to tough to tame vs the comepitions pourpose built sno-x race sleds. I wish them the best of luck. Also it would be cool the see WSPA form a four stroke class that just Phazers race in. imo Just my thoughts, what do you think?
