Just bought a 2012 Apex 128, and I just added lower gearing, machined clutch, ulmers clutch kit, power commander v, bender rear exhaust, air box mod, and 153 studs down the middle. What would this be like against a picked turbo cat with no hijacker, or a picked and piped 800 etec? Seems like all I can do without boost, and don't want to boost till I see next years apex replacement

I beat my buddies 2011 800 etec most of the time. However, he doesn't play with his suspension and doesn't have enough studs (96). His has a clutch kit and can. I also ran a stock 1100 turbo (so he claims) and he took a bit to catch me and may have got me by 2 sleds at the end. I would like to run him again as I had an exhaust leak (cracked flex pipe) when we ran. You should do well against those. The more studs the better, you may need more to hook up. Keep us posted.

Not sure you will want the lower gearing for racing 660 or maybe even at all unless you are 240 lbs plus or have really good traction products.
128's spin a lot out of the hole with stock gearing.
Other than that, you should be good to put away the sleds you mentioned.

Well hopefully I hit the sweet spot then. I'm 240-245lbs without gear, and she is picked 153 down the middle.. Added my old C&A skis with bergs from triple points to offset the 153 push in the corners, and 13mm sway bars.

na apex now..interesting....biggest issue you have is traction...tough to get traction because cant run long enough studs...I dont think I would have ran 153 down the center also...also I run razors and they scrub speed,,,,the doo has you at launch...but you have him on top,,,so the launch is key to you....the turbo...if its stock you should take it....once modded "its stock"....sorry dude no race here...

Interesting that I didn't go turbo sj? Lol what stud pattern would you have done? I also own tuners with 6-4 carbides. I never like studding the outside so I did the woodys 153 pattern. Thought it might combat the aggressive carbides for turning? What do you think being you have owned both.

To me...the apex gets better once it gets at least 1500 miles..I'm too impatient to wait..lol...I studded four per row...every outside row (added four wheel rear axle) and its the only way id go for traction and a good balance...ya..its funny how were all bouncing around waiting for "it" to be brought out!

You need to add a 1.50" stud or equivilant to get good traction. But thats the problem with the new Apex, you cant run a long stud, which means you cant get a good launch.

For best hole shot you need to stud the out side belt's! What I would do in your case is do every other window on the out side. I never gained by gearing down on snow, just not enough traction with agressive clutching. Don't know what you did but never stud the center 2" of center belt either. Studding the out side will give more push, just depends what you?

Your EXUP valve and exhaust! You need to add a strip to your tunnel protectors. Keep your track tight and keep an eye on it, you don't wan't to buy that exhaust!!
