HAS ANY ONE TRIED THE YAMAHA DUAL RUNNER SKIS - WHICH RUNNERS AREA YOU USEING - CURRANTLY HAVE 4.5 CARBS WITH SLYDOG 6.0 WIDE SKIS - STILL DARTS AND STEERS HARD -- -YOUR OPINIONS - THANKS

I cant speak about sterring effort as I run these skiis on a 2011 Apex with power steering but I can tell you that I love them. I run 4" inside and 2" outside and they are plenty agressive with little darting and a good value .

I did a search the other day and got information from Btheviper (I believe) that was supportive of the ski's. I too am interested in getting one or two sets of these if others endorse.

One set for an Apex- no power steering' and the other for Venture GT again older no power steering.

What do people rec. for slides. I like aggressive but don't want heavy steering for when my wife rides one or the other sled.

THanks

Yamadoo

Darting wise, 80% better than the stock skiis and stock runners, not quite as good as stock skiis and woody's slim jims however they do hold a line in the corners much better. I like them alot and would recommend them to anyone. They are wider than the stock skiis and are better in the fresh snow than stock.

Mt man how is the darting compared to the stock skies 95 % gone ? better or worse thanks jeff

Hi Jeff! The only thing that 100% eliminates tracking is snowtracker's. I have the aggressive's on my 12 and I can't imagine riding with out them. The guy that bought my old sled finally had to buy a new pair, over 6k on them. They changed them for the 11/12 ski's and I think they don't bite quite as much but still far better than a duece or dually. A couple friends that I ride with wen't to them and absolutely love them as well. The amount of fatigue at the end of the day is so much less!

runners

Hi Kevin i want to put them on my 11, i run 1 stock and 1 duelly now, do you think top end will be less with 2 snotrackers. thanks jeff when will you start planting ?

keep in mind too, because the ski doesn't dart like regular skis, you can use the pressure that is put on the carbide by the rubber to adjust how much steering effort you want. Same way we used to shim single carbide skis so the front of the carbide wouldn't touch to help with darting(this causes harder turning) you can now apply pressure to the front of the carbide to help steering effort without making the sled act crazy, to a point.

I would go with carbides being equal for this reason. The inside carbide will wear a little faster than the outside one. You can just swap skis left to right when this becomes noticeable and get a little more life out of a set of carbides.
It wont be long before studboy is making bars for these skis and then you can make them even more agressive with the taller host bar they use.

Also on the darting issue. I have run these style skis for a few years now and they work best when you have 1/4 toe. I have seen many people set the toe on here wider in an effort to control darting. If you use these skis with wider than 1/4 toe, you may find the sled pulling side to side depending on which ski finds the best bight. Especially if your going with front bias on the carbides.

Still waiting for someone to send me a set of trackers to try

Jeff I don't think I lost any top end with the Tracker's and I run the aggressive's. The center blade is only 1/4" thick and the rest is only thin tin, maybe 1/16". The duelly's will cost top end and I would think a dual keel ski would be worse and will not solve all tracking, darting issue's. I have heard a complaint or two that they catch on thing's however I have seen A arm's and trailing arm's ben't from regular carbides as well. At this point I will not ride with out them! If you put them on make sure you have the stock rubber bumper's in with no shim's or any of that BS and set toe at 0 with a bungie across the ski tip's. If you want to wait till next winter to try the Tracker's you are more than welcome to ride my sled and try them if we get snow

I'am hoping for some bad weather yet so I don't have to deal with it in May when I should be planting!

Re: trackers

,!4 man"]Thanks Kevin, you know the guys i ride with ever mph counts, how many acers do you plant, any of that corn ?[/quote]

LOL on the MPH! We only run about 1,200 acres, both my brother's have full time jobs and I have the trucking business but it's a mix of field corn, sweet corn, Lima beans, soybeans and winter wheat. All seasonal so more time to play with sled's. :tg:
