I have been trying to fiqure out the easiest way to obtain 12 volt DC for an electric shield. Didn't really want to start cutting into existing wiring. I had heard about a plug thorugh Radio Shack but when I asked at the local Yamaha dealership, they brought this out to the counter.
Just take your power cord and clip off the positive/negative terminals, run them through a rubber grommet on the end of the plug, and then screw the wires to the +/- plug terminals. No soldering. Quick and easy. Hey, they put the 12 volt DC plug on the dash so why not use it?
Pick one up at your local Yamaha dealership for $10.25.

Pretty cool! I need the outlet though to run my GPS. Great idea.

The 12 volt DC Receptical in the 2005 Acc. catelog shows a female RCA connector on the end that sticks out of the outlet after the recetical is plugged in. That would be perfect, but dealer said that it is not available for 2006. Does anybody know why Yamaha quick making that plug? looks almost like the one in the above photo. You would just have to plug your shield in...no cutting of wires or nothing.
