This weekend we went on a 165 mile trip and all day the sled would dart to the point where I almost hit a tree in tighter woods trails. In an open field, it would also dart upwards of what it felt like a foot each way! I thought these skis were to stop this type of uneasiness.
Sled Info:
Bought mid Jan. 2015
06 Apex RTX with Floats - 65psi
Tuner skis with 6" and 4" no shims
1.25 Ice ripper
Transfer rod at max - from previous owner. Tried backing it off but jam nut seized.
Don't recall limit strap position
Slight left/right play in steering linkage
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Plan on checking toe. From previous research, I thought the toe should be set in 1/8" max. on each ski for 1/4" total?

take the tranfer rod out of skid and work on unjamming on the bench 100 pecent easier you say darting and mention darting up ? do you mean lifting both skis in the air darting to me mean skis move aggresively from side to side following features on the snow/ice e.g. other peoples ski tracks

You want it out if anything. Here is a decent write up: http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/setting-ski-toe-adjustment.134903/

I was implying moving laterally upwards of a foot under normal driving.
Thanks for link snowdust

Ahhh. That is weight transfer. You'll have to get that transfer rod out and adjusted. That'll fix your problem. Set it at half way and adjust from there. You'll see a big difference.

I'll do that snowdust. I also increased the psi to 75 in the front because when it was darting, it also felt like it dipped too much.
Do I need to pull the skid to get to the transfer rod?

No. Just unbolt the transfer rod. It is held in with two bolts. 14mm socket and wrench.I'll do that snowdust. I also increased the psi to 75 in the front because when it was darting, it also felt like it dipped too much.

Removing weight from the rear of the sled makes it easier. Set the rod in a vice and use some heat from a propane or Map gas torch to help loosen up the jam nut.
I have mine set closer to min transfer for flatter handling coming out of the corners.

Before removing the transfer rod, try knocking loose the adjuster nut with a hammer and a flat bar. I've had zero luck using the shock adjustment tool. I think it's only good for measuring your transfer setting.

Yup. Useless as a wrench.I think it's only good for measuring your transfer setting.

What sissy said....you have to get some weight off of those skis. I personally run a 2007 with the transfer rod at stock (middle) setting. I think I pulled up one(more ski pressure) on the limiter strap and I am running shaper bars which should not stop darting. I have slight issues when letting off the gas and into corners. NO I don't ride slow....

Tried that before Grimm because that tool is a joke... Maybe I'll try again with some heat. Thanks

Amso make sure your adjusting your floats with the ski in the air, not loaded. If air pressure is set on the ground there is no where near enough pressure in them and the sled will act insane, deadly darting. Yeah I learned that from experience, just forgot to lift it up before checking...Just put Tuners on my 2011 SE a couple of weeks ago, had Snowtrackers on since new. Not quite as stable as the Snowtrackers but very little darting and only in very firm conditions. So far I like the Tuners wit 6" inside & out...462kms on Sat. and almost NO darting.
