I've been reading that some people have been having trouble with the back of their tunnels krinckling around their exhaust on the fourstroke yamaha's. What years of yamaha's is this a problem for, and i was just wondering if Yamaha has fixed this problem for 2006? I'm just worried about our 2006 Rage we have...but i have heard that yamaha may have added brackets underneath the tunnel to help with the problem for 2006.
Please help...thanks alot!

I had a problem with my 05 Vector and the tunnel crinkling in the back. The 06 models have a support bracket added in the problem area. If you have an 05, you can purchase the brackets for each side (about $15 each) and drill out about 14 rivets and they fit right in. I did this to mine and haven't had a problem since. I would highly recommend this for anyone with an 05 before their tunnel starts to bend.

Here's a pic of the inside of the tunnel with the brackets and a pic of the plates I added to the outside.

I thought I would have this problem for sure due to my weight and riding style but I noticed that the Rox sledtreads I installed actually has a support bracket in that area that not only stiffens the boards but adds strength to the weak area. Got my fingers crossed!

so the 06 model have that? well as of 400 miles of riding and trailering no bend at all in mine

Yes the 06 models all have the extra support brackets. My 05 tunnel didn't start bending until about 1600 miles.

So what is Yamaha's response to this? Are they coming good or taking a 'wait and see' attitude?

Mine bent this past weekend.

It's called extremely rough riding over the whoops at WOT.

That's what I once thought. I've heard many reports of the bent tunnels and didn't even think of putting the extra brackets in mine because I don't beat my sled. I went for an easy 200 mile ride one day on very nice groomed trails, and came home with a bent tunnel. Never even bottomed out once while riding that day. Seems like a design flaw to me. Why would brackets be added to this area on the 2006 models? Because Yamaha wants to waste money on extra parts? Probably not.
