In a recent post a member said his steering was lose. The funny thing is I just picked up my 07 ATTAK last week . I hadn't noticed upon picking it up as they loaded it into my trailer that the steering was loose and the handle bar was out of alignment. The next moring I was taken by that and brought it back to the dealer. The Mechanic said it was lose and that he would align it and try to tighten the steering.
When I got back he said he was over sensitive about the steering and it seemed fine.
When I got home I had read his post and felt maybe it was in all the sleds. So I went out and checked yesterday about 6 different models at a Yam dealer. They all had the same play found in mine. I felt relieved in that mine wasn't damaged somehow on shipment etc. 10K and dealer says it's ok?
Anyway I thought I'd post this as there may be others concerened. My friend who has Artic Cat says he doesn't have any play..I'll see..
My 03 Vmaxs have play as well but not as much...
Snowman seemed to mention in the post that he shaved off a nylon bushing down on the shaft to take up play? This play I'm talking about is when you turn the bar left to right or right to left just a little.
I'm not worried but will keep one eye open for fixs....

- None, looking now!
They do have some play. I've noticed that it seems to go away when your driving it. I did notice, however that my bars are slightly off center now. They feel like they are turned a little to the right even though the skis are stait. I'll have to adjust my rods when my new risers get here. It drove me nuts on my last ride.
Anyways, I think it is normal for these sleds to have some play. My 07 Attak didn't have any when it was new, but the front end wore in and now I have some. I think it's normal and probably a good thing.

All four of my inside bolts on my a-arms are loose. I noticed this when i was doing my oil change. When I put a 17mm socket on them they turned very easy. Just something I think everyone should check.

Steering off a bit to the right? Many were, and it was mentioned elsewhere that it may be as easy as just loosening up the 4 bolts that secure the bars and riser to the mounting bracket on the stearing shaft? Easy enough to try first before adjusting other linkage.
Bolts on the a-arms loose-I checked mine last week while I changed the oil & oil fliter. You may be able to rotate the bolts with a wrench, but the main thing is that they are torqued to spec and should be fine.
You will notice some variation of play with the a-arms from sled to sled, nothing to be overly concerned.

The bolts are tight. When I unbolted the arms from the steering knuckle you could spin them with your fingers. Just wnnted to make sure....Thank You

Let us know.. I checked 6 of them new inside the dealers and they all had the same play. Side to Side.
I'll probably be doing this for a while. Dealers are far and few between here. But when I see one I'll stop in and touch.

You bet, I can do that. Hopefully it gets here soon. Our snow is going fast.
