Yet another broken W arm--Dont overlook !!!!!

Yet another broken W arm---- mine was ok last year but I guess I broke it good in the spring? Both of the inside braces of the "w" were broken completly off!!!! Plus 3 or 4 more cracks.

Wow am I lucky!!!!

Check your W's out often!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Tony, What do you think is causing the problem? The same thing has happened to me on every proaction and last year broke it in the mono-shock. I always blamed it on bad landings and jumping those water bars/ditches. I would like to know if just moguls are enough or are we just hard on equiptment! Now I watch real close for the paint cracking/pealing off in the joints as a indicator it is starting.

the proaction W arms were a bad design and porly welded, too much heat. it makes a real brittle area outside of the weld. plus having the limiter straps loop up and around the cross brace puts alot of stress when the skid drops. it was just one of the many proaction flaws.

I had my buddy take my 05 mono out last night for a spin around the yard to make sure it will run for my big trip coming up. Less than a mile the whole thing broke apart at the welds. Before I put it away last spring I had the dealer put on a new track and the speedo side shaft bearing. The cracks must have been fairly small at that time for him not to notice. I think he would notice....hummm. Anyways the thing must have rusted apart this summer. I'm glad it was found now and not in two weeks. Yikes...
It will be interesting to see what he says tomorrow when my buddy drops it off.

I think there is a replacement part for the 2005 W arms. Checked ronnies and ARM, PIVOT 1 8FT-47331-00-00 (replaces 8FU-47331-00-00)

My brothers finally gave out at 5000 miles.. it was broken into 4 pieces..

Its all rewelded back up and he had his fabricator add heavy gussets to it , so it wont break again..

Can anyone post pics exactly where to check it? I have my skid out right now and would like to look for any trouble. Is this at the front of the skid where the limiter strap is?

Yes it is that front arm. Just look closely at all the corners. If the paint is cracked wire brush it a little and look for cracks around welds. Good luck!

Check the '08, I noticed on mine that its bean BEEFED up, they added extra bracing at top and bottom it seems a lot stronger than my '05 was...

I think it would be a direct bolt on for the older '05/'06/'07...

Paint is flaked off at the welds but I have not looked closely for any cracks. I will do that. IF it is cracked and I know a good welder do I just take it to him or if it's cracked is it too late?

you are correct. 05 arm is changed to part number 8FT-47331-00-00. Original was 8FU-47331-00-00 Not sure what the T and U mean...

As far as the 07/08 arm. That number is 8FT-47331-01-00
I sure would like to know if the 08 arm could work. only difference is that 01 in the part number. It's also $275 and the 05 arm is $219.
My dealer said he thinks no on the swap...and that the rails are different...but many times they are clueless.

Yup thats my Mono Skid out of my 05........It has about 3,300 miles on it.

WOW...I wonder why some fail and some don't. I ride pretty hard and I have about 6K and no cracks (knock on wood)
