I put sleds in the garage and park park in front of the garage door.Leaving your sleds in a trailer at home then block in the trailer with a truck or car.You can get the alarms you attach to the inside door that go off when a door is opened, might make them take off hearing an alarm.Anything to help secure the trailer better will show a thief that it will take a bit longer to steal.Depends where you are parked and how busy the area is as to how nervous the thief is and how much time he will spend. If they want it they will get it.
I did see something on tv where there was a GPS marker put on a vehicle where it would allow you to track it from home on your computer.Used it to track the kids as to where they were going.I think it was what FAMILYMAN posted or something like it.
OR-
Stake out your trailer and then it becomes which ever you prefer-

I'd like to see Law enforcement set up sting operations in areas with high theft rates. (To catch a predator)!

Can a person get suide if they run voltage thru the handlebars if someone other then the owner is riding it...say 1000 volts?

That works for me!
I have thought about rigging a taser to my trucks door handles or the shifter! It would be nice if they had some security system that could be rigged up to call you or the police if a car or sled are started with out deactivating the security system. It could tell the police where it is and that it is getting stolen. Or if it called you maybe give you the option to shut it down by phone or turn the taser on that’s mounted in the seat or steering wheel!

So funny you posted this. I'm going to Canada in February and I logged on today to ask if anyone had any good, portable security options as I have heard that Quebec can be tough.
When I lived on Queens, N.Y. I installed a fuel cut-off switch in my accord and it was the only thing that kept this guy from driving off with my car, after he had slammhammered the ignition.
Would this work on my '07 Attak. Can I install a fuel cut-off switch and hide the switch? I was also thinking of installing a removeable fuse box so I could just pop out all the fuses (especially the ignition fuse) and pop them back in when I'm ready to ride.
Do they usually drive off with a stolen sled or load it onto a trailer or truck. I don't even know how most sleds are stolen.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The ones I hear about are truck, trailers and sleds...
Others are broke down and get towed away.
It would be very easy to put a fuse jumper on the ignition and/or fuel shut off. But, I was thinking more in the lines of, something that would tie into the chain case and be a lock on the track.
Then it wouldnt matter if they try to toe it or drive away with it. It just woudnt move. I think I will start designing something.

Garmin has a product meant for dogs, it's called the Garmin Astro.
Check it out, seems neat and does not use cell phones or the internet.

Would it be possible to pad lock the disc brake? That would definately put a wrench in someones plans to drive away or tow your sled away.
I think I will be looking into a fuse jumper and locking the disc brake.
If anyone wants my sled they better come prepared!!

Because out here in Bush there are some weird laws, snowmobile theft is a big issue. Due to the fact that we are not connected to the road system, the local police looks at vehicle theft (yes even the 40 thousand $ truck) as joyriding and there are no consequences.
Shy of my new Yamaha, every sled I have owned out here has gone for a joy ride. We are always thinking of new ways to make it more difficult for kids to drive away.
We use padlocks in the disk brake, on the old sled I used a LARGE crescent wrench across the drive clutch with a Large padlock through the hole on the handle. You pull the rope, the wrench hits the tub, the rope won't come out...you get the idea.
A large chain is also used through the track and something stationary, like the pillings on a house. A buddy also has his ignition wires tied into the thumbwarmer or handwarmer, and the sled will only fire if all switches are in the appropriate position.(yes, he lost some adjustability)
Park it inside...
There are all kinds of things that we can do to slow someone down, but if they want your sled, unfortunately they will likely get it.
One dude here in Bethel had a disk brake lock, a hidden fuel shut off, a chain locking the skid to the house and a wrench in the clutch. They cut the chain and loaded his sled on to a trailer...so if they want it they will get it....and that sucks big time.
I wish we could use some of the products that are available in the mainland, but we are outside of the cellular network and also outside the coverage area of many satellites, which means: no XM radio, no satellite updated weather on our aviation GPS, no texting or sending pictures over phones...again , you get the idea.
I like the gps locators, they will tell you were and when your sled has been.

I have tried to rely on our justice system, but its hard...best I dont track my sled and get there before they do.
