First ride of the season...

What a three day storm with snow and high winds we went thru here in the central and eastern UP.
Some say it beats the storm of "78".

One of my co-workers is from the Marquette area, Republic I believe. His dad and sister still live up there. He was filling me in this week. He said an old high school buddy was trapped in his house. All the doors and windows were buried with snow. I see they had to rescue a sledder who was lost in the snowstorm.

Well let's hope we're back on an upswing here as far as snowfall goes for the next decade. Maybe our Sidewinders will regain some value! Not that it really matters...I won't be parting with mine any time soon! Sure would be nice to get back to the more snowy winters on a regular basis though.

This was definitely a good year for Michigan. I thought I was done for the year and then we had a big storm last weekend. I rode Friday in a blizzard and was the only one on some trails. And then we had an ice and snow storm Saturday, Sunday and most of the area was without power. After tending mine and a friend’s generator for 2 days I finally got to go for one last ride with a couple of buddies. We rode from Cadillac to Mesick and only saw 2 other sleds. There was tons of snow but we had to avoid downed trees and ride through hanging ice covered branches. It was beautiful though.
