Wow....just wow! He's digging his car out like he's gonna be able to go somewhere, lol. With three feet in front of it I doubt they will be going anywhere right away, at least till the plows catch up...amazing...all in one evening too. ;)!

Yamaha Oversized Idler Wheel...Anyone tried this one??

Actually Dan I have read your thread...and several times at that, very informative indeed. Let me clarify my statement I made in frustration earlier. The only "original mount" Im actually going to re-use will be the round spindles on the inside of the rails, where the fwd lower suspension...

Yamaha Oversized Idler Wheel...Anyone tried this one??

I give up!! I thought I had a line on the perfect set up....a Kimpex wheel with a narrow 6004 bearing with the larger outer diameter wheel of 135mm....I got this straight out of the Kimpex catalog mind you. Als snowmobile sells this part number wheel...so I called them, they tell me nope...

Yamaha Oversized Idler Wheel...Anyone tried this one??

Yamaha wheels are 130mm diameter and are pretty ineffective at preventing hyfax wear. Yamaha wheels also have a narrower bearing in them (6005). Polaris wheels are 135mm in diameter, better for preventing hyfax wear...BUT, there is a wider bearing (6025) in the Polaris wheel. This...

Yamaha Oversized Idler Wheel...Anyone tried this one??

Oh crap...I didnt see that part (I think Im gettin bug eyed, Ive looked at sooo many of them!). So basically if prior to 2004 they all had 6205 bearings, they would be no different than a Polaris wheel then...bummer. :o|

Yamaha Oversized Idler Wheel...Anyone tried this one??

http://www.ty4stroke.com/posting.php?mode=newtopic&f=55 Found this on SLP's site and thought it would be a worth inquiring about. The person I called said the wheel diameter is 5 3/8". That converts to 135mm (same as Poo wheels), which would be just perfect to keep the hyfax wear...

Yamaha Marginal Snow Condition Wheel sets??

Thats exactly what I was hoping to hear! I figure between going to 6 each larger Poo wheels (135mm)...two outside front, two inside front, two outside aft, and the marginal snow condition wheel kit in front, I oughtta have it covered. If that doesnt solve it, I will also have...

    Best Type Of Ice Scratcher??

I have been contemplating which type of scratcher to purchase... 1) Ski Scratcher: Would most of teh spray just end up running under the track? 2) Holz Scratcher: Mount toward front of rails, could interfere with fwd idler wheel though? 3) Under Floor Board Scratcher: Made by an...

Yamaha Marginal Snow Condition Wheel sets??

The sled is new to me, but the previous owner told me he just replced the hyfax for the third time before I bought it. It only has 2,100 miles on it!! Thus the reason I want to nip this in the bud before wearing the new hyfax out. Im a big believer in preventative maintenance. I was...

Yamaha Marginal Snow Condition Wheel sets??

I just bought a couple of sets of the Yamaha Marginal Snow Condition wheel sets to install on my '06 Apex Mountain sled. I want to combat accelerated wear on the hyfax on the front of the rails and where the rails tip up toward the rear. Do these wheels at least touch the track and keep it...

Similarity/Observation: Yamaha Sleds vs Dodge Cummins

I just bought myself a new to me '06 Apex Mountain sled the other day. I've been a long time Yamaha motorcycle fan (dirt biking on them since 4 years old, 45 now). So Im very familiar with their reliability and power output, especially with their cutting edge four strokes. So, when I...

    Careful with those clutches!

I had an Artic Cat El Tigre (eww...shiver, god I hated that sled!) back in the 80's and the primary clutch exploded on me while I was getting on the throttle pretty good going up a hill. It literally exploded with schrapnel flying through the hood, tub, headlight shroud, etc... It hit the...
