The highest I've seen on light snow on ice with 114 studs 1.5 track was 9000 rpm. Highest speed I noticed was 166km/hr or 103.75 mph on hard snow with a few thin drifts. This was on long pulls over 1 mile. Absolute top speed for the conditions.
I raced my friends RTX apex and jumped ahead...
This can happen when riding along big lakes over longer distances. From a dead stop on good snow the Nytro doesn't get spanked too easily in the 660'. If your racing sleds with a few mods and lots of studs your not going to have much of a chance on hard pack. Especially if you have no studs...
I was able to get a couple pairs of the Scott High Voltage3 X double lens ThermaMax OTG from Royal. They are supposidly a better fit for a wide variety of shapes... They were more in US dollars on Ebay than what I got them for in $CD. I like the nose cover. I got a wind block balaclava to...
Tighten it again,#1. Drive with less throttle,#2. Anti Ratchet sprokets,#3.
#1 is good for now but you will burn out your hyfax quicker.
#2 just plain sucks...
#3 is some work but with a few tools you can do it yourself in a heated garage. The info is on this site somewhere.
My buddy bought an AC touring 1000 turbo. It weighs 800 lbs. I would only think the turbo would be faster up on top. Probably the non touring models are about 700 lbs. The BRP 1000 weighted the same as an Apex...
What I would expect is to get the jump then hold out hopeing he didn't go past...

What set up do I need?
I have the AC-X2 Chromium by HJC. Is this good for snowmobiling?
It was -20 C and was going to...
About what I'm experiencing. We don't go 1000' only 660'. The base was 6" packed crusty snow on ice. The highly modded F7 was way a head but the stock machines were no problem. I was just able to eek out wins against a new Crossfire 1000. He was under 100 miles so I expect him to improve...
Put 85 miles on yesterday. Almost 140 km. Had the skis set up with the larger spacer outside for a little extra width over stock. Seemd to preform without any problems. I thought with both shims to the outside it would put too much stress on the bolt and ski saddle.
The studs are a pain...
Yes. I always do this. There was a grease nipple on the jack shaft of some sleds. Haven't looked at this one to see yet. It only takes half a pump. On the suspension grease nipples, some with shafts require 4 or 5 pumps where the others might only take a pump. Its always best to hold the...
It does look like a prime example. I use to stud tracks way more and never had a bending problem. I think it also has to do with the stud length. I have a 1.5 track so the longer shaft is more susceptable to bending. If I had of used the collars like on the Apex I don't think I would have...
I read it had to do with a width limit for out on the trails but who knows? I put my larger spacer on the outside. I love the Simmons ski's on any sled.
I don't know that I'll even try this setup. I think I'll just go big spacer to the outside. I can see how the load would increase substantually after staring at the front bolt and imagining it flexing under different circumstances. It would be strongest when equal on both sides but since I...
Mine is squeaky as well. Especially in the garage I notice. It is the springs. A little silicone lube spray might help. Just a little where the squeek is.
I do it every week through the winter. Always water gushing out. Like said above you can find problems before they get worse or dangerous. Frozen suspensions don't work too well... I always wipe off the clumps of grease so it doesn't become too much of a mess under there.
I fixed my sled tonight and I'm switching over the ski's. I read the posts about getting a wider stance and thought I'd go two on the outside. With the simmons ski's your even wider again. Is this going to last? Or should I just go with the bigger shim on the outside and smaller inside for a...
You need to lower the weight transfer so it doesn't push when your on the throttle. Shim under the back of the rubber behind the bolt would raise the front.
I've never seen many birds out snowmobiling. The only wind I hear is wisteling past my helmut. I don't like to stop much when trail riding. I did have a picture of two Canada Jays...Moose birds eating chips out of my hand but they were on my buddy's camera.
I've driven some of the trails...
New US sleds.
All you need is an address in the US to get a sled down there. At least I needed one for the dealership I used as they are not alowed to sell to Canadians. Yamaha motor tells them not to. At the border you have to wait for 72 hours after the sled arrives for paperwork to get...
The Apex likes wide open spaces then it is OK. When your in tight quarters the XTX is still fun where an Apex can get cumbersome. In places where you would slow down with an Apex because the bumps get a bit big you can really play with a XTX. No bashing around. Much more control. I feel...
