just throwing this out there i know its been mentioned a lot but for the proud owners of the rx and warrior or any of the other yammi sleds that have these suspension i replaced two w arms this year due to cracks and one of them didnt just crack it plain came apart and took out both shocks blew...
oh yea if interested in looking at a drawing for the outer a arm fix search my name and you will find it put on 2500 miles on this fix and no problems yet
yea they used the thru bolt on the lower a arm that goes thru the spindle to support the weight of the sled probly wouldnt be bad but the material used in the a arm is thin and after time cuts into the bolt and for some reason it vibrates that locknut off pioneer new about i had to buy new bolts...
i had same problem last year and broke my shock i did what lb said and it worked fine you also want to keep an eye on the lower a-arm bolts the loosen up and fall out wich really sucks cuz then you get to ride your sled home with one ski flopping around this is a very crappy design for a sled...
skid
i put a 136 inch pantera skid in my o4 warrior wow what a difference in ride and wait transfer its not difficult make sure your track adjustement screws are at the same place they would be on stock skid when figuring out were to drill your new mounting bolt holes
i wouldnt weld carbides to the arms the rod wouldnt give much added strength i believe the yami arms are strong enuff and if you were going to do anything to strengthen the after market arms do something yami has done to there arms that has been left out on the aftermarket arms yes ulmers sells...
no i was jonesing to ride i figure a summer project i would like to replace all the bushings with brass or maybe stainless and stregnthen the a-arms i had a shock bracket brake on me also 1/2 mile from the house one nite wich spoiled the ride the better half and i had planned and spent the next...
i didnt have much of a choice in material used as i asked a friend if he could get these pieces made up for me were he works this is what some peolple call government work so beggers cant be choosers im sure these pieces will last a while and if they dont well get some more made up call it r&d
i have pioneer performance kayaba shock has 4300 miles on it it is rebuildable and it has progressive valving in it according to them i will let it go for 225. plus shipping or the whole skid for four hundred
the 3/8 bolt is supporting no load from the sled unlike mpi design that is why i went with a grade 5 3/8 bolt and they are easier to get if something does happen the brass ,aluminum bushings and a-arm tubes carry the wieght of the sled worst case senarrio the brass gives up and im riding on the...
drawing of bushing kit i had made
here it is folks dont have actual pictures as i have installed it allready i remembered some dimensions but not all of them and my original drawing went to shop were they were made as to the cost i swapped for a steering column out of a 86 chevy pickup truck a...
ITS FIXED
received parts from machine shop wed. installed thurs road friday nite everything went well worked like a dreami would definitly recomend this fix for anyone who has these arms only problem is the bolts are not hidden anymore
bushings
yes i am having bushings made that will be installed in the arms with a steel sleeve same diameter as the one that goes thru the spindle except the new one will extend into the bushings 20mm or so the bolt head and nut will be exposed like the stock ones but i would take that over not...
me too
my bolt had bent too i think the design of these a ams at the spindle are built cheesy the axle that goes thru the spindle should protrude into the a arm at least half way and bushings should be installed in the arms that are drilled to accept the tube this way the weight of the sled is...
loctite
i posted this so people who have these a-arms would be aware of the bolts loosening up and maybe falling out wich could be catastrophic for the sled and individual not so much as to bitch about the inferior design of the arms themselves i also posted the way i plan on fixing this issue...
I have a 2004 warrior with pioneers ski widening kit when i replaced the bushings in the front suspension i noticed the nut was missing on the lower a arm bolt that goes thru the spindle i purchased the bolt kit when i purchased the new bushings put maybe five hundred miles on new install was...
chain tension
i still stand behind the thought of shock load to the chain and sprocket teeth i have not removed the cover and looked to see if there is slack at adjuster bolt being finger tight or quarter turn off the roller was put in there for a reason and that was to make sure the chain had...
Improper chain adjustement will cause premature wear i adjusted to the back off1/4 turn and while riding i began thinking about that damnchain havinga little slack in it and what we ask it to do (transfer all that power from the clutches to a track that we have studded for extra traction)...
