    VKPro at work

My Gen II wide body flexi-skis were ordered today. Thanks for that final push of encouragement. I should have them in about a week and a full report will follow. My buyer for my regular flexi-skis hasn't gotten back to me in a while. I was trying to get his sled details to order a mount...

    VKPro at work

Well said. I smiled when I read this. You captured the skill needed perfectly. As time goes on though my reaction time isn't what it used to be. Now when we get the big dumps I'm usually out there riding out the storm. I have a 6 foot roller I pull behind my VK Pro. I just keep packing...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

Yeti, Yes they will be the "wide body" 10 inch gen IIs. I've had a pair of gen Is for many years. They started on my Skandic SWT and when I switched to the VK Pro, all I needed to do was order a new set of mounts from Simmons.

Thanks Wayne and Eric. Good comments about the ice buildup. This is why I post what I'm doing on this forum. I remember now last year that I ran into a situation where I thought I had bad gas. I got some de-icer and it solved my problem. Now I'm beginning to wonder if it came after I had...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

I've got another groomer interested in my regular flexi-skis so I'm about half way there with the price. The new wide flexi-skis won't be as hard to swallow that way. I've also got my front end adjusted on the heavy side to help with the steering pressure, but of course that means it...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

Welcome everyone Hey Everyone, Back in action for another grooming season. We are off to a good start in Vermont. We've had three storms move through this week. Six inches of snow for each of the first two storms, and over twelve inches for the last one. I've been out with the VK...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

Haven't worked on the gooseneck yet. Probably sometime in the fall. Right now I'm too busy getting in my wood. I use wood to heat the house and barn, and my domestic hot water. I need about 3 cords to do the hot water each year, and another 12 cords for heating the structures. That...

Thanks for the lead on the arborist site. I've started browsing through all the different sub-forums on that one. From my first take there is a ton of useful information. Another site I have used a lot is TractorByNet for all my tractor and attachment needs. There is a good sub-forum on UTVs...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

For the gooseneck I have the bottom half in place. Basically a base plate with a ball welded to it. The trick was to build up the bottom of the base plate so the weight rests on the four mounting points used by the passenger seat. Then there is no down pressure on the exhaust area. I have...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

Yes, the second radiator proved to solve my cooling needs. I had two strong spring grooming days before I finally ended the ski season. Conditions both times were moderate temperatures ranging from 28 to 32 degrees F. I was also running with the groomer knives down therefore exerting maximum...

Adding Ski brackets and High-jacker jack

VK Rider, What type of base plate do you use for your jack and how high up can you lift with whatever straps you are using? Lets see a picture in action.

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

Wow, I'm amazed at what you have just put together. It has all the elements of a good groomer starting from the rear: 1) a good compaction bed, hopefully most of the snow goes underneath it, not sure with it's low angle if any will go over the top, 2) an adjustable cutter bar if I'm looking at...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

Cooling system passed a hard test today I went out grooming today for the first time with my expanded cooling system in the VK Pro and it worked great under a hard test. Conditions - 27 degrees F, 1 inch of loose powder on top of a hardpack trail. It rained hard the entire day on...

Thanks Tom, Since I got the machine back from the dealers, the temperatures haven't been cold enough to go out. Monday and Tuesday look possible and if so I'll give it a good test. Definitely I look forward to pictures of your groomer.

Second Radiator Installed Picked up my VK Pro from the dealer today. I now have a second radiator installed. It's up front, just like you would expect in a car. It's a nice setup and it gets good airflow from the two opening in the cowl up there. The second radiator is about 2/3rds the...

    main switch assembly( Ingnition)2006 pro

My ignition switch turns the engine on, but it doesn't turn it off. I can turn the key back and pull it out and the engine just keeps on purring. Have to use the kill button. I have a 2008 VK Pro and the dealer is replacing my ignition switch.

Yamaha VK Pro Radiator Kit The part number for the radiator kit is Yamaha VK1-00-RAD-01-00. It's not cheap, retail is $578 in US dollars. My dealer has stepped up again and is helping me out on some of the cost and the install. The part arrived today, so hopefully they will get it installed...
