Has anyone ridden Bergstroms set up with and without the ski savers on an otherwise identical sled? Is there a huge benefit other than preserving the life of your stock ski?

I agree 100% and I probably won't change it. I was just curious what the delta was between the 2 set ups. I might try it just to see how the sled handles without the savers more for the milage than the top speed. 99.8 MPH in the woods is about 40 MPH to fast in most cases

The biggest advantage is that it won't come loose in rough conditions. One other small advantage is that you will be able to use your cig plug for something else.
