Just take apart the cig adapter and solder wires to the + & - contacts and wire them up. That way you'll know you have the correct polarity and voltage. Thats what I did. Sensible to confirm the voltage and polarity after you wire it up though. I also fused the hot wire as an added safety measure.
Oh yeah I wired the TWO wires that I added to the DC adapter to the leads to accessory plug. Again make sure you get the polarity right. Plug in the adapter before you modify it to check the 4 pins, then make sure its the same once you hardwire. I made my connections removable with plugs. Using the plugs I can change what gizmos I want to power. GPS, camcorder, etc.
Didn't take any pics.

I can check what colors next week when I get home (traveling for work) but the bare wire I bought had the + and - leads labeled, I ran them directly to the battery. I have my GPSMAP 60CS hardwired.

I found that the best way is to run lines back th the battery and fuse it there. This way you have no issues with blowing fuses that controll other things on the sled.
Where do you have the GPS mounted on the sled and what did you use to hold it in place?
Can anyone post a pic of where they have the GPS mounted on their sled?

Here is the set up I used
qty. 1 RAM Mount Garmin GPSMAP 60 Series Cradle
qty. 2 RAM Mount Diamond Plate with 1 inch Ball
qty. 1 RAM Mount 3 inch Long Arm with Dual 1 inch Sockets
Total with shipping was $37. It took me about 20 minutes to remove the riser, drill it and re assemble. The riser is hollow so I drilled through just the front and I used a nut and bolt set up.
