Steering effort was about the same and no push on hard pack that i noticed but i am still breaking in so I wasnt really pushing the sled much. Canada next weekend and I will get to put some miles on an cut it loose alittle more.
Rode 102 miles yesterday with the turner skis for the first time. On hard pack groomed trails they were great. No darting and no push. In the loose snow they did push alittle but o think most skis do. I have 4 inch woodies shapers in the inside and 2 inch round on the outside.
6.9s work good for me also. I have mine set so only the last third of carbide touches. No darting and easy steering. Yes they don't steer well in powder but they float well and keeps the front end up so you can lean the sled over to turn. Over all I like them alot better than stock
Grind down the clamp where the allen bolt goes through. There is a round stop which allows the clamp to tighten only so much. On one of mine I had to grind the ears down as they were hitting together.
I replaced my o6 wheels with the spoked acc wheels. We put about 5ooo mil per year and 4 out of 6 bearings were bad. I replace the bearings every year. This year when I got the new bearings I checked the grease in them. What I found was very little blue colored grease in them. I packed the new...
I went through one on each side last year. The first time I bought a oem replacement. I did have to tweak the bottom a-arm to get the new bolts in. I did this with a pipe wrench and a cloth for protection. The last time I bought crome moly from mountian preformance. No problems yet.
On my last trip I blew left side bulb. I had the silverstars in. They lasted 2 seasons. Went to the parts store and asked him if they had anything as bright that would last longer. He gave me the ultras. Just put them in, I hope they last longer for 48 bucks. They do seem alittle brighter.
I also ground my clamps down so I could tighten the allen bolts as tight as I could. I hope this helps. I only had 1 clamp that was turned down. Just turned it with big adjustable pliers. One tip is, take the gas line off at the fuel rail instead of the back of the tank.
Just changed mine today. Have 7500 mi. on. Favarcat and myself did it in about 3 hours. Not as bad as I thought it would be. The biggest thing is the room to get the old ones out and the new ones in. We took two bars and put them on both sides of the flex tube and pushed them foward just enough...
