    Building a $6500 4-stroke mountain animal

ABC, it's really sad that it's come to that. Is that true now for all of Canada, or is that a Quebec thing? As overregulated at the US is, I don't think anywhere does that here. CA will probably be the first if things go that far in the hole. Bri

weight transfer and ski lift in powder

I'm inferring the other way around, loosten them up to ride in pow. Should help keep the front end up so your body english can make the sled carve better, without the front end diving and pushing so much.

weight transfer and ski lift in powder

bdm, good post and I'm in a similar situation as far as learning curve. Too much of my riding has been trail riding back east. I'm finding that going out and messing around on your own isn't a bad way to learn, you aren't trying to keep up with better riders, and can just putz around at slow...

    Building a $6500 4-stroke mountain animal

Really cool seeing the collection. Thanks for taking the time to post photos and write up what you've done. It takes a lot of time and effort to put all that down in a manner that makes sense.

    Joining the RX community

Jonny, I might just take you up on that drop bracket. Do you have any idea if the MPI brackets (on this one) are in the right place to mount the M7? If not, could I get a copy of your database, or a pic of yours? I have a cad station as well, and a buddy with a CNC, if I have some made, I may...

    Joining the RX community

Actually, the telling the wife part went fine...only thing is she now has laid claim on my old sled (Mountain Max). At least we have a new rider in the community, gotta make sure she enjoys it the first times out. She had fun playing in the field by the house, we got another foot last night...

    Joining the RX community

Well, I hadn't planned on doing so quite this soon, but I'll be joining you guys and gals as an RX-1 owner. Aaron was kind enough to point out a good deal over on Snowest. She's ridable as is, my M7 skid should be here this week to get her better. I'll run down to Boise and pick it up next...

Fifth Ton done, Sixth Ton Starting

Looking good, and thats quite a pile of parts to dump! Do you have any well lighted pics from the front or front quarter? I'm trying to see what you have done for a headlight. All too often I'm caught out after dark with our short days around here, loosing the factory headlight kinda...

    How 'bout the Apex seat??

Looks really nice, very clean install, almost looks factory. It really dresses up the sled. I'm not sure I'd worry about filling the gaps, the open look is kind of cool. And I bet it's a bunch cheaper than a Boss. Your pics also show what the rider forward and gauge relocate look like real...

    Skid and track questions...

I have one last skid question, I'm looking for info on the Holz M7 relocation bracket, and if I need one for this skid. The one I'm getting http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0056111790 claims it fits a '05 or '06 M7. I thought I recall reading that the relocation kit was only needed...

    Skid and track questions...

Well, I won the ebay auction for the M7 162 skid, it's from the LE, with the Ti springs and Fox shocks, $400, I thought was a pretty good deal. I was looking at a 162 track, it was only $225, but got bid up in the last couple mintues, I missed it. Not too heartbroken, I don't need to spend more...

    Skid and track questions...

Aaron, where are you finding that good of a deal on new AC rails? The dealer I got a quote from (RV Sports) has them but for $96 each. I figure it shouldn't be that hard to do a trade on Snowest though. I'm going to bid on the skid on ebay I posted above, we'll see how it goes. Bri

    Skid and track questions...

I was also looking at this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Used-Arc ... enameZWDVW I'm also thinking selling the 162 rails might be easier than 141's.

    Skid and track questions...

Aaron, I was looking at that one, I just sent him a PM. Let me ask you guys a really ignorant question. When you are referring to the skid, I assume you mean the entire rear suspension, with rails, springs, linkages, shocks etc. As opposed to say the rails and the frame that secures them...

    Skid and track questions...

Thanks for all the replys, I emailed RV Sports and will see what they have to say. A couple more questions...how short a track can you run on the 153? And how long can you go with the 141? I'd like the option of trying a 162, but I'm a little concerned that it might be a bit too long...

    Skid and track questions...

OK, so I don't have an RX-1 yet, but it's coming, I'm starting to collect parts for mods as I see a decent deal. I bought a set of Apex skis (they will serve on my MM for a while) and just missed a Maverick (Apex) track locally for $300-nuts! Anyway, the post is really about the M7 skid vs...

Mountain 4 Stroke on a Budget

Thanks again for the offer, I'll PM you next week, snow permitting. I'm planning on taking the MM up towards Priest for the annual shakedown cruise sometime this weekend. I like your idea about what to do with an RX- motor, would make an interesting swap into the Grizzly. :)

    Recommendation for Parka and Bibs

I'm pretty new to mountain riding, till the last couple years my riding was on trails and flats back east. Anyway, I have older Artic Cat leathers, they are great when you are banziing on trails when it's zero, but I sweat my butt off in the mountains, at lower speads and working alot harder...

Mountain 4 Stroke on a Budget

JR and Frosty, thanks for the riding offer. I'd like to take you up on that in a few weeks. I work in Liberty Lake, it would be a short hop over to 4th of July. BTW, I'll start with the mtn, as usual when I start looking at a new project I get anxious to jump at a deal. Lots more chances...
