Got one (07 Attak GT) & General Questions

If the flex pipes are not cracked don’t mess with them, just replace the donuts. Are the flanges in the y-pipes still good? The FAQ section at the very top of this Apex section will be your friend, almost all of the common questions/concerns you may have are in there.

Adding a radiator/fan to ride in very low snow conditions/dirt.

Check out Barn of Parts sled salvage, @hibshman25 is a TY advertiser and has a dual fan kit available for the Nytro. I ran one years ago and had no overheating issues, my buddies stock sled would pop the “hot light” on a pretty regular basis.

    Back in the saddle

That’s a good score, well done. I’m just down in Uxbridge, we should try and ride some time.

    These 3 rivets?

There’s a post about “smoking rivets” in the SRViper forum.

    Questions regarding 2003 Yamaha Rx1

The flour holer started out life as a bike motor so it uses CV style carbs instead of the traditional Mikuni VM/TM units normally used on a sled. Welcome to the world of carbureted four stroke Yammy’s.

    07 attack or 2011 apex?

Here’s another vote for the 2nd Gen Ape. I’ve had/built several versions of both generations with different track lengths over the years and my 137” Mono equipped 2016 is my fave to date. When ridden aggressively I need fuel at 190 km/118 mi.

    My 2018 Apex 50th XTX

I can’t believe you’re going to let the 50th Ape go Sleddy, makes me a little sad.

    WTB Heel Clicker 40-10

I’ve got a set of Dalton’s you can have to try too. Hoping to do some un-frozen water activities over your way this summer so I’ll bring them along for the ride and drop them off.

What are you using for the drag sled Dok, PZ?

2011 Apex valve adjustment and cam position sensor

Any 150-160 HP modern 2-stroke would have needed two top-end kits and a crank rebuild by 22000km. I don’t think an Ape is expensive to maintain at all in comparison, I’ve had four of them now.

    What is your Apex flat-cruise MPH @ 7500 & 8000 RPM?

I’ll let you know next season. Lol I don’t run stock clutching, so my results may not be 100% inline with OEM components installed. Also, the surface/snow conditions and temp make a HUGE difference, even if we’re comparing on “hard pack”.

2010 nytro xtx vs. 2013 nytro xtx

Along with the update to dual hand/thumb warmer switches there were upgrades to the ECU programming so that the handlebar warmers actually got hot enough to warm your hands.

    New Camso Track. thoughts??

2016-2018 Apes came from the factory with 2.86 pitch drivers. @MrSled has a good write up about stretching a 128” sled to 137” and lists the correct part #s for the newer Yammy extrovert drivers required to do this. Search it up and then install any 2.86 drive pitch track you’d like.

Who is able to rebuild ohlins shock nowadays?

X 2 for Dean @ Peak Velocity if you’re in Canada. He works on a large number of Ohlins for bikes and still the odd set for sleds too.

    Belt top coming off

The three holers aren’t nearly as easy on belts or clutch parts as compared to the quads. I give my Ape a new 8DN every other season just so she knows I still like her and appreciate all she does for me.

    GM 2.7L turbo towing

I’ve driven that little four banger turbo a little and it would struggle with a 2-place enclosed if you threw a decent hill in front of it. I’m on the 2nd winter with my 3.5 Ecoboom after almost 20 years of GM V8 trucks. I’ve been totally blown away with the amount of power available just off...
