I would give it a go next season.
I'm getting 2 -79 Exciter's from Northernsledder at the end of the month and would have 1 of them reworked hopefully by next season ;)!
Sounds like it would be a good time as long as the trails are smooth, not much suspension on a 35 year old sled.
We are...
I agree with you Yamerhammer,I ran the Gems box for 4 years and as he said one day it was good and one day it wasn't. Then if we went out west and were at altitude everything changed and you had to start from scratch while your group was waiting on you to get dialed in.
I could not get along...
Glad to hear you have it running, make sure that you always let it warm up before you turn it back off.
You are starting with quite a snowmobile for your first lead, there are a few extra things to do you on a turbo sled, talk to the fellow that installed it and he can probably give you a lot...
Sounds like Red is your man for finding out all about your kit!
Looks like you found out where the plugs are. As Red said, detach the connector and then twist or wiggle them to loosen them, then pull them up and the plugs are under them.
Sometimes they really stick and you have to Gently pry...
Also, you said you started it a few times, did you let it run long enough for the temp light to go out? You should never run these motors for just a short period of time without coming up to temp. That is why I think you have wet plugs.
Hope this helps you in the future.
I just went back and looked at your pic. I would say you have to take the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler and all the plumbing that is in that area off to gain access.
That all depends on what turbo kit is on it. I'm sure you will have to disassemble some things to get down to them. It is quite a little job to get to them without a turbo, so I'm thinking it will be a little more work with one installed?
Can't you see them? That should tell you what needs to be...
Hello Shane, good to hear from you.Great review on your new toy. ;)!
Do you think you will be able to make any of the TY rides this year? Really enjoyed riding with you a couple years ago, hope to do it again sometime.
Take Care, Dan
X2 on having a Great Dealer, mine really takes Good care of me as well.
I know what you mean by can't talk about it.
My dealer does things for me that the average Joe won't get. Many things I can't talk about.
I send him quite a little bit of business and he is Thankful of it and treats me...
Looks like I am coming Saturday after all.;)!
They are moving my mother-in-law to a nursing home here in our hometown later today. And I think things are under control well enough that I can slip up and spend Saturday at Novi.
Hope to get to see many of you sometime Saturday at the show!
I am not sure if I can make it or not now.
My 85 year old mother-in-law fell down two days ago and broke her back and is up in the Toledo Hospital.
Not sure how the end of this week will play out, if we can get her to a nursing home or what that all will entail.
Really want to try and make it...
Hi Pay2Play,
mine has rivets. Have had no issues with trailer itself.
Dexter had trouble with axle tubes rusting for a few years. Not sure the exact years, but back in the time frame you are talking about I believe.
Axles are not real pricey if they need replaced. As long as you get the trailer...
Check the axle tubes if it has the tor-flex axles.
The axle tubes are known for rusting thru, about a foot or so in from the ends.
The trailers themselves seem to hold up well.
Mine is about that age and we put a lot of miles on it every year (6,000+) and have only done normal maintenance each year.
