That is my sled in the pic. Yes there is a bar that has the nut inserts that goes from the left to the right. Very solid. I am not familiar with the Apex mirrors. Yes they scream old man but work excellent. Getting too old to turn my head around all day.
We had a excellent ride in the U.P. this weekend. We had two 2005 RX1's and one 2011 and one 2012 Apex. My friends new to him 2005 RX1 with 2000 miles. I did preseason maintenance including changing the oil and filter. He is running Mobil One 0w30. We also did an air box mod, jetting, clutching...
I agree
I thought it would run harder than it did. It pulls hard in the midrange on up, but was slow getting going.
I have another friend running10 bs of boost on a 03 RX1with a CPR turbo and it leaves me like my sled is tired down.
How cani tell if it has stock clutching?

Yes I know they beat me. It was expected. The Z1 pulled 105mph and I run 95mph with two teath ground off in the distance of this field.
Traction
We're they equaly studded?
I ride with a 2012 Apex XTX that is not studded. It hooks hard for no studs, but my studded 121 RX1 leaves it by 2 to 3 sleds out of the hole. They do run very good for a stock sled.
At local dealer
Stopped to pick up a part today and they had several sleds other than the Two vipers that was there. I would think with the snow they will start to move for them.
Apex
If I was buying new this year it would be an Apex. If the Vipers turn out to be a dependable sled and close to the Apex in power, I don't want to give up much there. Then it might be a Viper next year. No sense in going backwards with the Nytro.
Carbs
Carb spray passed through all of them. I talked to the owner and he said he had the carbs cleaned last year also.
The stupid TORS was kicking on after I put the carbs back on. Not sure what changed. I will have to check it over again.
Thanks for responding.
